Pakistan police arrest two for grave robbing

Islamabad - Pakistan authorities arrested two men on suspicion of digging up graves to steal bones to sell for use in black magic in an overnight raid at a graveyard in Karachi, media reports said Wednesday.
The accused were taken into custody at Gulshan-e-Maymar cemetery.
Plain-clothes policemen were deployed after at least 40 graves were found dug up on Monday in Gadap Town graveyard and bones and body parts were missing. The incident caused widespread outrage.
Dunya television said the accused said they sold the human bones to people practising black magic, who use them to cast spells and make amulets for their clients.
The use of black magic is widespread in Pakistan.
Practitioners of black magic make fortunes by selling charms with the promise that they can cure ills ranging from infertility to cancer, hurt enemies, bring good luck and help to win back estranged sweethearts.
