Karzai: Afghan attacks are "horrible" acts of terrorism
Dec 6, 2011, 10:03 GMT
Berlin - President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday described as 'horrible terrorism' the deadly bombings in Afghanistan.
'Thank you ... for your very encouraging words of sympathy and condolence for the victims of the terrorist action today in Kabul and also in Mazar-e Sharif,' he told a news conference in Berlin.
'This is the first time that on such an important religious day there is terrorism of that horrible nature taking place. We hope a quick recovery to those who are injured,' Karzai said.
He was speaking after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, following the international conference on the future of Afghanistan that wrapped up in Bonn on Monday.
Merkel also voiced shock, saying, 'It shows we have to keep working hard ... to be able to ensure security in Afghanistan.'
