Indian activist Anna Hazare discharged from hospital

New Delhi - Indian anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare was discharged from hospital after being treated for a chest infection, news reports said Monday.
The 74-year-old activist left hospital in the south-western city of Pune Sunday and said he would rest for a month, the Times of India daily reported.
Hazare fell ill after starting a hunger-strike in Mumbai on December 28 in protest against the government's version of an anti-corruption bill.
Calling the legislation 'useless,' he then threatened to campaign against the ruling Indian National Congress party in upcoming state polls.
'I will decide about that once my health is fine,' Hazare said. 'This is not a movement of a month or two. It will go on for years.'
The bill, which would create an independent ombudsman with powers to prosecute politicians and civil servants, was approved by the lower house last month but was not cleared by the upper house.
The bill will be taken up again in the next session of parliament due in February-March, ministers said.
