Pakistan minister: NATO report an "old wine"
Feb 1, 2012, 12:28 GMT
Kabul - The Pakistani Foreign Minister downplayed on Wednesday a leaked NATO report accusing her country of having links with the Afghan Taliban.
'For me, this is an old wine in an even older bottle. I don't think these claims are new. These claims have been made for many years,' Hina Rabbani Khar told reporters during a one-day visit to the Afghan capital Kabul.
'I think I can just disregard this as potentially strategic leak or otherwise,' she said during a joint press conference with the Afghan Foreign Minister Zulmai Rassoul.
Khar also said the intention of her visit was to send 'a strong message to both Kabul and to the world that Pakistan will stand behind any initiative, whatsoever' that Afghanistan takes regarding peace talks with the Taliban insurgents.
