Feb 17, 2012, 10:01 GMT
Islamabad - At least nine people were killed and 25 injured when an explosion ripped through a Shiite mosque in Pakistan's north-western tribal region along the Afghan border on Friday, authorities and a Shiite organization said.
The blast took place in Parachinar, the main city in Kurram tribal district, when the worshippers were leaving the mosque following Friday morning prayers.
A security official in Parachinar said neither casualty figures nor details of the bombing were available.
But Hassan Jaan, a spokesman of Shiite group the Imamia Student Organization, said that nine people were confirmed dead while 25 injured had been moved to hospital.
