Obama apologies to Karzai over desecration of Koran

Kabul - United States President Barack Obama has sent a letter of apology to his Afghan counterpart, Hamid Karzai, over the alleged desecration of the Koran at a US base in Afghanistan, the office of the Afghan president said in a statement.
The letter was delivered to the Afghan president on Thursday by Ryan Crocker, the US ambassador to Afghanistan.
'I wish to express my deep regret for the reported incident, I extend to you and the Afghan people my sincere apologies,' Obama was quoted as saying.
