Jun 12, 2007, 14:04 GMT
London - The British government said Tuesday it was in contact with the Ford motor company over reports that the US giant is planning to sell off its Jaguar and Land Rover luxury brands.
Prime Minister Tony Blair's official spokesman said the government believed that both Land Rover and Jaguar were 'highly successful companies and will have a highly successful future.'
Trade unions Tuesday voiced fears over job losses among the 19,000 workers employed by the two manufacturers in Britain.
