(M&C) - British actor Chris Langham has filed an appeal over his 10 month jail sentence for downloading child pornography.
Langham, 58, was found guilty in Maidstone Court in August of 15 counts of making an indecent photo of a child. The award-winning actor claims he was researching a paedophile character for a television drama he was writing and said he was also attempting to understand the sexual abuse he had suffered as a child.
He has consistently denied all charges.
The jury found him not guilty of having sex with an underage girl.
In sentencing him in September, Judge Philip Statman said, "Your activity took place in the comfort of your own home, no doubt at the time feeling safe in the knowledge that you would never be caught."
Langham is due to be released from prison in the New Year.
