Fishermen missing after storm capsizes boat (Roundup)
By Rich Bowden, M&C Staff Writer Jan 7, 2008, 12:20 GMT
(M&C) - Six French fisherman are listed as missing after a storm sank their boat off the Cornish coast.
Both French and British rescuers are battling gale force winds some 50 miles from land in an attempt to find the remaining six members of the crew of the Le Petit Julie.
Only one member of the crew has so far been rescued.
The Falmouth coastguard said the search was being hampered by the severe weather.
"Winds in the area are anything up to severe gale nine, which does make it a little more difficult and more worrying for the people that are missing. At the moment it will be cold, which will affect the time of the sailors' survival."
The vessel was believed to have been lost in overnight storms.
