Greenpeace in Heathrow airport protest
Feb 25, 2008, 12:49 GMT
London - Four Greenpeace activists were arrested at London's Heathrow airport Monday after climbing onto a parked aicraft to protest against the planned extension of the airport - one of the world's busiest.
Greenpeace said the protestors managed to place a banner over the plane's tailfin stating the environmentalist group's opposition to the planned construction of a third runway at Heathrow.
Airport operators BAA described the protest as 'unlawful and irresponsible,' but said traffic had not been disrupted.
It is not clear how the two women and two men managed to get through security to cross the tarmac after passengers had disembarked from a domestic flight from Manchester, northern England.
