Prince William's girlfriend doesn't want to be called Kate: report

London - Kate Middleton, the girlfriend of Britain's Prince William, not longer wants to be called Kate, apparently feeling the name is not regal enough, press reports said Monday.
The royal girlfriend has asked that everyone call her Catherine, a name with a much more formal ring and a queenly history, the Daily Mail reported.
The newspaper said Middleton, 26, is trying to give herself a more formal image, befitting a young woman who could one day be married to a king.
The news comes amid mounting speculation that Middleton and Prince William are close to becoming engaged, the report said.
Prince William, 25, is second-in-line to the throne after his father, Prince Charles.
The Daily Mail said that Middleton would not like to be called 'Queen Kate.'
Friends point out that she has never been called Kate in private by her family or people who are close to her. They usually call her by her full name, Catherine.
The name Kate was used by the media when her relationship with Prince William became public in 2004.
Previous Catherines married to English kings did not always enjoy a happy relationship. Three of Henry VIII's six wives were named Catherine.
Henry cast aside his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, who bore him a daughter, Mary. His fifth wife, Catherine Howard, was beheaded in 1542 on the grounds of adultery. Catherine Parr, his sixth wife, nursed him until his death in 1547.

I'm no great fan of the royal family, since the death of Diana, but however much I dislike the royals , at least give these two young lovebirds a break.
Of course she should be able to choose how she should be addressed. What I find perplexing is WHO did she let know that she would rather be called Catherine, If all her family and friends already call her that, what would be the point of asking them to call her that? ;-)
I hope that there is a porn star called Catherine Middleton. I will go and google for her NOW!! Also, I will check for Kate Middleton, incase that is also a juicy name.

Catherine is her name, and if it's the one by which she has always been called, then of course she prefers it. 'Kate' is merely a media invention. There's no need to claim that she wants a more 'regal' image merely because she wants people to use her true name.
