Long-lost words of George Harrison song join library collection

London - The lyrics of a previously unknown song penned by late Beatle George Harrison in his early 20s and saved from the scrap heap in the famous Abbey Road studios went on public display in Britain Friday.
Written in early 1967, when Harrison was aged 23 or 24, the untitled song was discovered by music writer Hunter Davies during his research for a new edition of the famous band's official biography.
Davies collected the Beatles' lyrics discarded as scrap paper from the floor of Abbey Road studio and kept them as souvenirs, saving them from being thrown out by the cleaners.
They will now join other famous Beatles exhibits in the British Library's modern literary manuscripts department.
Written in Harrison's handwriting, the song was never recorded by him, or even put to music, as far as is known.
'I'm happy to say that it's only a dream; when I come across people like you; it's only a dream and you make it obscene; with the things that you think and you do.
'Your (sic) so unaware of the pain that I bear; and jealous for what you can't do. There's times when I feel that you haven't a hope; but I also know that isn't true,' wrote Harrison.
While the identity of the girl Harrison was dreaming about remains a mystery, it is thought that it could have been his then wife Pattie Boyd. Harrison died of cancer in 2001.

they didn't stay lost.
to see that Harrison was considering a different direction in his lyrics circa 1967 from the eastern-oriented stuff he was doing at the time. I can't help wishing he'd explored this direction a bit more.

he died before it was put to his insanely neurotic music and foisted upon the public.
