Wimbledon finalist Bartoli could be in doubt after thigh injury
Jun 19, 2009, 14:20 GMT
Eastbourne, England - 2007 Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli came to a tearful end Friday in her Eastbourne Championships semi-final as the Frenchwoman was forced to quit trailing 6-4, 1-0 against Virgine Razzano in their semi-final.
Razzano will play for the third title of her career and first since 2007 when she faces Danish sixth seed Caroline Wozniacki, who defeated Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Bartoli now fears for her Wimbledon participation with the Grand Slam starting Monday where she is seeded 12th.
'It's too soon for a diagnosis,' she said. 'If it's a strain then there's not a good chance that I can play.
Bartoli first asked for the trainer after losing the opening set and quit a game later when it became apparent her movement was hampered.
There is no love lost between the two after Razzano this week accused Bartoli of gamesmanship in previous matches including a pair in 2008.
'She tries to do things to make your concentration drop. She can try anything to win. When you play Marion you need to prepare for everything,' Razzano said after her victory.
Wozniacki lost the first set in 30 minutes against Wozniak, also of Polish extraction. But the teenaged sixth seed slowly turned the tide to take the victory in just under two hours
She will be playing her fifth final of 2009, with one win over Wozniak at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, in April to show for her efforts.
