Cameron's spin doctor quizzed by police
Nov 6, 2010, 13:19 GMT
London - The director of communications for British Prime Minister David Cameron has been questioned by police over his alleged role in phone-hacking whilst he was editor of the country's biggest- selling tabloid newspaper.
Andy Coulson was interviewed by police on Thursday as a witness, after attending the police station voluntarily, Downing Street confirmed.
Coulson, prior to being appointed to work for Cameron, was editor of the Sunday-newspaper News of the World.
One of its reporters working under him was jailed for conspiracy to access phone messages, including those of the royal princes William and Harry. Coulson has always denied any knowledge of the offences.
A police inquiry was revived following an investigation by the New York Times earlier this year which alleged that the practice was more widespread than previously admitted.
