May 26, 2011, 9:46 GMT
London - US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle left Britain Thursday after a three-day state visit marked by royal pomp and ceremony, wide-ranging political talks and a keynote speech.
The president flew on Air Force One from Stansted airport, outside London, to Deauville in northern France, where he will take part in the annual summit of Group of Eight (G8) nations.
Michelle Obama travelled back to the US separately.
At the start of his week-long European tour, Obama visited Ireland, from where his great-great-great-grandfather emigrated in the 1850s.
After France, Obama is due to travel on to Poland.
