Steady rain wipes out Eastbourne semi-finals
Jun 17, 2011, 17:05 GMT
Eastbourne, England - Play at the Eastbourne grass court tournament was wiped out by rain Friday, with all four men's and women's semi-finals rescheduled for Saturday.
The poor weather resulted in the crisis plan, with the last two rounds to hopefully be wrapped up on the same day at Devonshire Park.
The south coast event is the last ATP and WTA tuneup prior to Monday's start of Wimbledon, with no chance of extending play into Sunday due to the major in London.
Due on court Saturday will be fifth seeded Czech Petra Kvitova facing Daniela Hantuchova, who ended a ten-match loss streak to Venus Williams in the quarter-finals.
2007 Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli will play Australian seventh seed Samantha Stosur.
In men's play, the last seed in contention, Serb number three Janko Tipsarevic, will face Japan's Kei Nishikori, while Italian Andreas Seppi takes on Igor Kunitsyn of Russia.
