Prince Charles and Camilla on visit to South Africa, Tanzania
Nov 2, 2011, 18:02 GMT
Johannesburg - Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, arrived in South Africa on Wednesday for an official five-day visit set to focus on trade and ecological issues.
The couple landed at Waterkloof airbase in Pretoria. Charles travelled from the Middle East where he visited Kuwait and Qatar, to be joined by his wife for the African leg of his tour.
The British heir to the throne recently became the president of Britain's World Wildlife Fund and part of his trip will look at concerns regarding endangered species and threats to fragile ecosystems.
After spending five days in South Africa - during which the couple will visit Pretoria, Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town - they will travel to Tanzania for two days, as that country celebrates its 50th independence day.
Charles last officially visited South Africa in 1997 and for the duchess this will be her first official visit to the country.
