Skyfall movie marks half a century of 007 on the big screen
Nov 3, 2011, 15:00 GMT
London - Skyfall is the name of the latest James Bond film, which will hit the big screen next year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the popular spy film series, its Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes said Thursday.
The fictional British spy will be played for a third time by actor Daniel Craig. Judi Dench will play his boss M.
'It will be Bond with a capital B,' Craig told reporters in London.
Skyfall also stars veteran actors Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Oscar-winning Javier Bardem as the villain.
The Bond girls will be played by Naomi Harris and French actress Berenice Marlohe.
According to Mendes, the storyline will take Bond through an action-filled journey that includes stops in London, China, Turkey and Scotland.
'The movie will reveal everything, and there's lots of surprises,' said Mendes, quelling rumours that he would tone down the action sequences.
Co-producer Barbara Broccoli said no decision had been made on the film's music theme.
Skyfall will be launched in Britain on October 26, 2012.
The announcement came 50 years to the day when Sean Connery was presented to the media as the first James Bond actor in Dr No, which was released in 1962.
'I would never have thought we get to 50 years of Bond,' said Skyfall co-producer Michael G. Wilson.
