Larry, the Downing Street cat, won't get the sack over dinner mouse
Nov 14, 2011, 17:59 GMT
London - The British government Monday stood by Larry, the Downing Street cat, despite reports that a mouse was sighted at a dinner given by Prime Minister David Cameron.
'Larry brings a lot of pleasure to a lot of people,' said a spokesman for Cameron, rebuffing calls for the cat to be sacked.
The Daily Mail reported Monday that a mouse was sighted at a recent ministerial dinner.
Cameron, who brought in Larry in February to help combat Downing Street's long-running rodent problem, said earlier this year that Larry was a 'good mouser' and had caught mice three times since he arrived in the job in May, 2010.
