Ferrer fells injured Murray in London opener
Nov 21, 2011, 16:50 GMT
London - David Ferrer began the ATP World Tour Finals on Monday with a decisive 6-4, 7-5 Group A victory over Andy Murray, with the defeated Scot getting treatment for what is believed to be a groin injury.
Ferrer, losing finalist at the year-end event in 2007 in Shanghai, earned the victory in two hours as Murray committed 44 unforced errors.
The world number three was treated on court at the start of the second set on his injury but played on. He lost a serve in the final game of both matches to go down to Ferrer for the first time on any surface other than the Spaniard's native clay.
World number one Novak Djokovic will be testing a shoulder injury in the second match when he faces Czech Tomas Berdych.
