Tsonga breaks his duck with first year-end win
Nov 22, 2011, 16:07 GMT
London - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won his first career match at a year-end event as the Frenchman defeated Mardy Fish 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 to stay alive in Group B play at the ATP World Tour Finals on Tuesday.
After losing both of his matches on his 2010 debut at the eight-man wrapup, the burly Tsonga dominated over Fish, who has only a theoretical chance of still advancing after slipping to a 0-2 record in round robin.
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will clash for the 26th time in their historic rivalry, with Federer looking to extend to a perfect 2-0 mark this week.
Nadal suffered with stomach problems in his opening win over Fish and will aim to be recovered when he plays the defending champion Swiss.
