Nov 26, 2011, 16:01 GMT
London - Roger Federer beat David Ferrer 7-5, 6-3 on Saturday to reach his seventh final at the season-ending championship, with the Swiss set to return to the world number three ranking after his victory at the World Tour Finals.
The Swiss will also be playing in his 100th career final as he bids for a record sixth trophy at the season wrap-up.
Federer clocked his 12th win without a loss over Spain's Ferrer, who now travels home for next week's Davis Cup final against Argentina.
Federer was within two points of losing the first set, but won a nine-minute game and lifted his level in the second set to earn victory running away in just under 90 minutes. He plays the winner from a match between Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
