Dec 2, 2011, 21:24 GMT
London - Spain took a stranglehold on the Davis Cup final David Ferrer put Spain into a 2-0 command over Argentina on Friday with his defeat of Juan Del Potro 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The gruelling victory which lasted for four and three-quarter hours came after Rafael Nadal crushed Juan Monaco 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 to secure the first point in a stroll.
Ferrer, who played the semi-final last week in London, and gave away six years to Del Potro, showed his superior fitness in the victory after trailing two sets to one.
Spain are bidding for a fifth Davis Cup title since 2000.
