Dec 23, 2011, 23:22 GMT
London - Britain's Price Philip, husband to Queen Elizabeth, was hospitalized late Friday due to chest pains.
The royal couple were at Sandringham, their private country estate, when Philip, 90, began complaining of pain, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.
Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and father of Crown Prince Charles, was taken to the cardiothoracic unit at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge for precautionary testing.
Members of the royal family are gathering at Sandringham for the Christmas weekend.
Philip and Elizabeth, 85, completed an 11-day tour of Australia in October.
