Man behind Darth Vader's fighting skills dies at 89
Jan 3, 2012, 18:09 GMT
London - The Olympic fencer who anonymously starred as Darth Vader on film, performing many of the swordplay scenes that have thrilled Star Wars fans for decades, died New Year's Day, reported the BBC on Tuesday.
Bob Anderson was 89. He appeared - in the full body Darth Vader suit - in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back and the 1983 film The Return of the Jedi.
When Anderson wasn't filling the suit for the many battle scenes involving the series' fabled light sabers, it was worn by David Prowse, with the voice provided by James Earl Jones.
The switches between Anderson and Prowse had been meant to be a secret, but it leaked in 1983.
