London - Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney will be among the celebrity line-up for a June concert in front of Buckingham Palace to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne, it was confirmed Tuesday.
The 69-year-old former Beatle will be joined by other big names, including Elton John, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Annie Lennox, Cliff Richard, boyband JLS, Madness and singer Ed Sheen.
Take That singer Gary Barlow, who is organizing the event, said the concert on June 4 would be the one of the 'biggest and most exciting live music shows in recent years.'
'With Buckingham Palace as a backdrop, it's going to be a fantastic event which transcends multiple decades of music', said Barlow.
'I'm proud to be British. I love the queen, I love the royal family, for me it's a great honour to be asked to do this. I want the whole world to be on this stage, and the whole world will be watching,' Barlow told the BBC Tuesday.
The artists are to perform before an audience of more than 10,000 people, including the queen and other members of the royal family. Free tickets will be made available by ballot via the BBC's website.
