I'm 46 now and no longer live in New York where I grew up, but many years ago when I was a college student in NYC there was a story in the news I have never forgotten.
Someone was being robbed on a subway train. With a weapon. I forget if it was a knife or a gun. The assembled passengers on that car didn't just look on, thankful it wasn't them. They banded together, overpowered the man and, having got him down on the floor, sat on him until police could meet the train at the next station.
And so here we have three more wonderful examples of New York at it's finest this week.
If any of you remember the old tourism jingle 'I Love New York' now's a good time to sing it. If not for the love of New York and it's people, at least for some much needed GOOD news for a change!
