Washington - Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, backed the Bush administration's sanctions against Iran but stressed that she opposes US military action against the Islamic republic.
Clinton's comments late Tuesday during a debate among seven Democratic hopefuls underscored how President George W Bush's hardening stance on Iran is shifting the US foreign policy debate, just over a year before the election to replace him in the White House.
Several rivals attacked Clinton, the former first lady and current US senator from New York, for supporting a Senate resolution in September that some Democrats say could be read as authorising Bush to launch war on Iran.
In imposing sanctions on Iran, the US administration last week declared an elite military unit a supporter of terrorism and targeted Iranian banks in an effort to curb Tehran's nuclear activities.
'I am not in favor of this rush for war, but I'm also not in favor of doing nothing,' Clinton said during the televised debate at a university in Philadelphia. 'I prefer vigorous diplomacy and I happen to think that economic sanctions are part of vigorous diplomacy.'
But, she said, 'we've got to do everything we can to prevent George Bush and the Republicans from doing something on their own to take offensive military action against Iran.'
Bush's October 17 warning that Iran's obtaining the know-how to make a nuclear weapon could lead to World War III has prompted Democratic charges that the administration is sabre-rattling like in the buildup to war in Iraq. The White House rejects that notion.
'There is no intention of bombing Iran. We are on a diplomatic track,' Bush's spokeswoman Dana Perino said Tuesday.
Clinton's approach reflected her effort to take a presidential, centrist stance against her more left-leaning rivals, a balancing act crucial to her bid to become the first female US president.
Democrats and Bush's Republicans have held a series of debates this year, but the stakes are getting higher as both parties gear up for the first presidential preference vote in the Midwestern farm state of Iowa on January 3.
Clinton faced sniping from her closest rivals, Senator Barack Obama from Illinois state and former vice presidential candidate John Edwards. They portrayed her as evasive and lacking political principles and attacked her early support for the war in Iraq in the Senate.
Asked by NBC television newscaster Brian Williams whether there was a 'red line' for military action against Iran, Clinton replied: 'I am not going to speculate about when or if they get nuclear weapons.'
But she also insisted, 'I will do everything I can to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb.'
Clinton has opened a wide lead in recent weeks over second-place Obama, whose youthful charisma and calls for change have struck a chord especially among young Democrats.
He hinted before the debate that he would get tougher on Clinton to spark his campaign, but it was Edwards who had the sharpest barbs.
He accused Clinton of defending 'a broken system that's corrupt' in Washington, saying 'one thing one time and something different at a different time' and of cozying up to Bush on Iran.
'Remember the prelude to Iraq?' Edwards said. 'We have to stand up to this president.'

Why would anyone object to sanctions on Iran?
Sanctions are good - Bush's war is not!!
Didn't Hillary vote for this war too? Who's war was it?
Oh yeah I forgot,at least she learned there were no WMD,Bush lied to us all...
And of course there were no nukes either...
Neither was there any collusion between Saddam and Al Quaida, another lie from Bush and Cheney ...Hillary changed her attitude when the truth was revealed ...Bush lied to her and all of us ...
Maybe this war was fought for totally different reasons ???Should we ask the Israeli's to pay the bill ???
Why you Americans want to support some wrinkled old cow that condoned a President of the United States who was a sex pervert and practiced oral sex in the White House when he should have been looking after America`s affairs and national security is unbelievable.
Having oral sex when he should have been dealing with matters of state, opens the door to blackmail and jeopardises national security at the highest level.
This woman has no sense of decency in her by supporting such a pervert and only wants power and status. She should have divorced the sex maniac at the time of the trial. What a common trollope she is. Dump her now, before you inherit a dangerous vile person in a senior position which you will regret on the world stage.
Surely, America has better material than this old immoral cow. She stinks to high heaven. I can smell her stench here 4,000 miles away.
I have read these comments on many subjects with great interest, anger and amusement. BUT there are people who should not engage in normal discussion with street-wise comment.
These puritanical, bible-thumping idiots, engage in chat with normal people and then act as classroom creeps by complaining that comments made against their particular views are rather nasty .
Well, look America ! the Internet is WWW, if you don`t know what that means, I`m not going to tell you.
There are people out there who hate your guts (Iranians, etc.) and THEY are just as right to enter their comments as YOU.
So, OK you slimy turds, complain and get these comments deleted and feel happy in your disgusting role as classroom creeps. There is nothing worse than a creep.
To all puritanical creeps and scourges of society ; -
I suggest that you keep within your church congregation where all is pure and righteous and leave everyday issues to NORMAL people. Bible thump as much as you like, but get the hell out of normal society.
IF YOU CANNOT STAND THE HEAT OF THE KITCHEN GET OUT OF IT !!
How you can support some old cow like Hillary Clinton for senior office, common decency will never know.
She condoned her husband`s perverted behaviour as President of the United States, practising oral sex in his office, when he should have been attending to the affairs of the nation.
A sex pervert as President, opens the door to blackmail and jeopardises national security at the highest level.
Is this the kind of female you want in office ? I would rate her only as madam in a whore house, although she looks far too old for even that.
...there's nothing I hate worse than some foreigner picking on ameircans for their voting choices no matter who it is running. I'm certainly no Hillary fan, but you could stick her in any other nation on earth and it woul be an improvement in just about every one.
No WMD's - over 500 were found by coalition forces, in various states of repair. Two were detonated by insurgents. These facts are not in debate.
No Al Queda - Saddam provided safe passage, passports and sanctuary to Al Queda for years. He allowed Abu Nidal to retire there. Connect the dots.
No nukes - no ne ever said there were. They did however, go to Niger in 1999 on a trade mission. Niger has about four exports:
1. Cattle
2. cow peas
3. onions
4. Uranium Yellow cake
Guess which one Iraq was looking to buy? Joe Wilson a.k.a. 'agent 86' must have missed that one...
Bush and Cheney lied - Just not about the above items
What makes you think you lies have any effect outside your deluded brain SP4 ?Even Bush, your hero admitted there were NO WMD in Iraq ,not a single one .THat is indeed not open to debate anymore ,poor sod ...
There was no Al Quaida in Iraq prior to the invasion of the US troops ,the entire world knows that except you as usual .Abou Nidal is not even Al Uaida in case you din't notice ,except perhaps in your confused brains .I understand you keep grasping at straws SP4 but to rake up all the lies that have been debunked only accounts for your dishonesty .Same applies for your silly reasoning concerning Niger .Common knowledge again that Iraq did not buy yellow cake at all,the afirmation was already known to be false by your own CIA analysts when Bush and Rumsfeld used it to install fear upon their own population It was one of the reason why George Tennet left the CIA.He was made to take the blame by Bush for it .
Seems your knowledge is paperthin SP4;perhaps if you care to google a bit some knowledge can still be broadened .It is up to you to make an effort and stop living with your privare universe where nothing is real .
Here is a bone for you to chew on SP4 ,perhaps it might sink in that there were no WMD in Iraq ,guess how the information was obtained by your very efficient CIA .A disgrace for any administration,as revealed by the incompetence of your agents to debunk the clown that fed you fake information to gain some bonus:
If only you would google 'curveball' you would have found out.As usual if facts don't agree with your private universe, they are dismissed.Paranoia ???
Now, now then don`t throw a tantrum or I`ll join Tonny from Belgium and become an SP4 hater.
Who the hell are you calling FOREIGNERS ? Every single person of your 300-350 million population is a FOREIGNER, excepting the American Indians, who you killed and persecuted in their 1000`s.
Without FOREIGNERS your country and Canada would be a vast wilderness inhabited only by millions of buffalo, wolves, prairie dogs etc. and American Indians.
So, come off it matey, think before you open your mouth, otherwise you`ll keep sticking your foot in it.
If you want to vote for some old cow who condoned the perversions of a President of the United States having oral sex with a girl of his daughters age in the White House Oval Room, when he should have had his mind on the nations welfare and security, not to mention the high risk of blackmail and likely breach of security at the highest level. - Then SP4, vote the old bag in.
If she had not got the guts to divorce Billy the Willy then, she won`t have the guts to shoulder the responsibilities of high office now.
Get rid of her, tell her to go back to her perverted hubby and stop messing around in politics. She is just an embarrassment to you. Gives us a laugh though.
America has it`s hands full now, with half the world hating you. A woman
President would make it a real joke. Osama bin Laden would probably shoot is own foot off with his AK47 through hysterics. Rather like that lump of female garbage Whatdehellisername Rice, who is making a damn fool of herself and her country all over the place. She is nothing more than a walking disaster.
Jesus ! SP4, ain't you got any MEN in America of any quality, that you have to delegate important issues to a mere woman ?
Bye bye for now girls, or should I say Mademoiselle America.
The American Republic will be the new government of America, and possibly Judah Ben-Hur, the new President, at least for awhile...the New World Order is coming, and there is nothing you can do to stop. The prophecy is true...so they say.
The world needs a change NOW, not later or soon and the American Republic will and is now in ACTION....be prepared for it is here, and does not need your help or money, it already has all it needs.
I am an american. I was born here. I'm not from any other nation. American indians, it seems, migrated here from Asia. So by your standards, they are not 'Americans' either.
Go chew on that.
...except that over 500 WMD's WERE found in Iraq. The number is not in debate. Two were set off, witnessed by Coalition forces, who had zero to do with the CIA, whatever THAT is supposed to mean. Honestly, in the age of information, how you can ignore this seems almost hard to beleive.
Now, the article at hand: Hillary.
Even the libnazi press is tired of losing market share, so they've decided not to be Hillary's bitch. Tim Russert got into her shorts this week. In other news, the scathing Wall Streeet Journal Editorial dissected her latest PR showing that it is virtually impossible to tell what, if anything, Hillary believes in, other than Chinese laundered money and a quick nomination from her gestapo party members.
Let's recap:
White water
Chinese and Russian campaign funds scandal for MFN status for China
FBI records scandal on the Clinton political foes.
Mr. Hsu's chinese money laundering schemes
Catholic Church land scams
Travel Office scandal
Greasy Commodity trades

Can't wait!
If anybody is a F**KBRAIN, look in the mirror, you are - bonehead.
BORN HERE !! You must be some degenerate monstrosity from the backwoods.
EVERYBODY is BORN SOMEWHERE, but is does not change their original race.
A pig born in a stable is still a pig - not a horse.
Only yesterday I read your inscrutable AMERICAN press actually NOT referring to AMERICANS who were BORN HERE. They specifically said AFRICAN AMERICANS !!
So what are you bum-head ? Some Swede basher or don`t you know ?
Read my previous article, try to understand it and do have a nice night.
'Well, look America ! the Internet is WWW, if you don`t know what that means, I`m not going to tell you.'
LOL, we invented it, we control it, play nice or we will boot you off.
I read your tinfoil hat mom's-basement-PC diatribe.
Trying to tie race and citizenship is as idiotic as trying to compare a sandwich with a doorknob.
Race? What race? What, on earth, does race have to do with being an american? indiginous population? Indians? Why would THEY have any more entitlement than anyone else???
How actually screwed up do you have to be to come up with such a concept?
Get out of your mothers basement, take off the tinfoil hat, and go see this nation. America is an idea, not just a place.
Keep flooding the posts with your lies SP4 ,until we all gag with disgust .I challenged you to provide evidence for anything you claim ,you have nothing but paranoia to back your claims .If A America is an idea, then you probably don't understand it , you are at odds with the majority of your own population .And who ever said Americans are a race ? Nobody did,so no need to debunk that either . In your own private dangerous universe Gonzales was sacked because he was about to instigate a trial against Hillary Clinton .
The republican 'dirty trick department ' could not have dreamt up a more silly spin .You must be the only American left to believe this kind of nonsense .Abroad nobody does .Unles you provide some evidence, any available ?It HAS been asked before ...
you are the one who gave freddie mercury aides.
remember????
OK you foreign hairy arsed American prick, I`ll risk being deleted just to tell you to f**k off and play with yourself, if you can find anything to play with.
You are an idiot of the first order, you don`t even understand English. What a piss-pot. I`ve seen better things crawling out of garbage bins, you big stinking lump of crap.
Read this you prat ; - AMERICA WOULD NOT EXIST BUT FOR FOREIGNERS. WE BUILT YOUR POXY COUNTRY, WHICH WOULD OTHERWISE BE A BLOODY WILDERNESS.
YOU DEGENERATE SCUMBAG, READ YOUR HISTORY IF YOU CAN READ AT ALL.
AND to stick this right up your arse - Custer's Last Stand is a bloody lie, an American myth to save your shitty people from knowing that this arsehole of a colonel and his pack of boy scouts were actually killed off by a load of savages armed only with bows and arrows and a few carbines.
This cowardly little bugger and his men ran like bloody rabbits after throwing down their weapons. CUSTERS LAST STAND !! You Americans are real naive pricks, it should be called CUSTERS LAST RUN. He ran as fast as your shitty troops did out of Viet Nam. The Indians loved it.
Stick to Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney if you want fantasy.
Get lost you disgusting idiotic FOREIGN jerk.
Yeah...Tonny is a jerk.
STOP- Coming down on Bush because of HIS war. He did right by his people by invading and taking control of Iran. REMEMBER he gave Saddam fair warning give us the position of Bin Laden and his group or we will come in there and you know the rest....days went by..nothing. You know the rest. He did a good thing and he gave fair warning.
Stop- Buying into Hillary. She will not become President. It will not happen. All the figures she has now will change drastically when election time comes. Obama too. The U.S. is not ready for a woman or a person of African heritage as President. Drastically.
STOP- Attacking one another personally. It serves no purpose and only goes to show that if you were the ones running for President your ethical and moral standpoints are skewed and compromised. In other words you have volitile personalities. Not good ok ?
To sum it up. Hillary - NO. Obama- NO. Bush-Hating- NO. Got it.
What kind of example is that ?? It shows how little you know about the U.S. All Americans know Custer was a power mad psychopath. He came to a bad end. Just like Saddam. That is the way it's always been. Only the strong survive. Xerxes took over every place he could Alexander took over everything he could. I could go on and on. So now there is the USA and we are proud of our country. We built this place on the backs and blood of those we crushed. Now...we are civilized and everything is cool.
So open your eyes Tonny and look at the big picture.
Why do you keep on bringing up that irrelevant subject !? We went in there to use IRAN as a base of operations. What you thought it was about bombs? Man some of you people are stupider than the most stupid stupid people. Of course they lied ! It was not about bombs it was about taking over so we can set up a frontline right in the middle of the hotzone. To this day Iraquies and Iranian factions are still killing one another with carbombs and suicide bombers and drive bys. They are killing each other. Thier own people and then they justify it and say if you leave we will stop. NO they will not it will get worse. It says alot about the human condition and backwards primitive way of thinking over there. All you war on terror haters better open your eyes and see the TRUTH for what it is.
just let Israel loose on thier sorry asses. It will be over before it gets started. We should just turn an intentional blind eye.
...it is pretty convenient, huh? Ol Albeeertoo gits his ass fahr'd and the senate drags feet on the FNG.(f--KIN nEW gUY) Pretty convenient, for someone conducting a 'monee raunderin opoation fo Beiro and Hirrary!' After all, they sold Most Favored Nation status to China in the 90's, for campaign funds, they may as well get their monies worth, right?
Tonny, you're the foreigner here, so try not to forget it forget it. As for the outsiders, I could care less about their opinion of America. After all, look how misdirected you are.
Now, Hirrary's competition is taking her comments for a tour. This is the best ad for the republicans they could ever hope for, not because of the commments, but because it showcases just how f--king stupid Obama and Edwards were to delay it for this long.
Primaries: They weed out the weak, don't they?
White Water - Beiro Crinton lied under oath and lost his law license for it. How crooked do you have to be to have LAWYERS try to get rid of you?
FBI records scandal - obtaining 500 records on your political enemies for them to use in the Crintons careers. Nice move, almost a Nixon flavor to it, don't you agree?
Chinese and Russian campaign money - 'Deriviered by a Sahndy Bergrar ' afterwards, Clinton bird dogged Most Favored Nation status and did an empty nuke treaty with N. Korea. Paid in full. Robert Baer details it in his book 'see no evil'. Berg(l)ar and the Crintons have never enied it.
Let Osami Bin Laden go - had him on a platter and let it pass. Thanks Beiro, 'noo monees fo that, huh whita boyh?'
I'm the only one who understands everything you said. Know why ?
I am not one of the stupid ones. Tonny ( what kind of name izzat ? )
will be all confused by the humor and sarcasm your entire comment is laced with. Keep it up he's on the ropes.
SP4 has no grasp whatever of the world situation, and is relegated to political nit-picking, rather than an understanding of the current state that GOP policy has brought the world to.
Nixon - Watergate, enemies list, left office in disgrace. An anti-Semitic bigot, and likely insane.
Iran-Contra scandal under Reagan.
Bush - failure to pursue bin Laden after Tora Bora, when Musharraf had given permission for that pursuit into Pakistan. Massive growth in National Debt, and unending spending for wars without result; and in fact things are getting worse.
RESULTS from actions of current Administration:
Afghanistan a narco-state in peril of falling back into Taliban hands, province by province, since we moved the theatre to Iraq. We no longer can get other countries to help with Afghanistan in sufficient amounts to matter.
Pakistan under emergency rule, with much of the opposition jailed, despite Bush's request not to pursue this course (check today's news).
edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/11/04/pakistan.reax/
'ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf was under fire at home and abroad Sunday after declaring an indefinite state of emergency that the West is calling a blow to democracy.'
Russia now a major factor in the Mideast, and supporting Iran's side of the argument. China and Russia have deals with Iran, and are blocking meaningful action in the Security Council. Bush has Putin furious with the anti-missile rhetoric, and relations have deteriorated, as Russia's wealth has grown from energy prices, which continue to rise due primarily to political issues, rather than true energy production costs.
Iran freed up, with the removal of Saddam, to pursue hegemony and nuclear energy, and not a damned thing that Bush can do about it short of an attack which would create a bigger mess than we have now.
A reliance on Turkey for logistics for the Iraq war, since 70% of our supplies come through there; while the threat of Turkish military action against the PKK in Kurdistan looms. Either Turkey or Iran can effectively shut down much of the Kurdistan economy, damaging our efforts in Iraq.
Chavez taking Venezuela socialist, a major supplier of U.S. oil now cutting deals with China instead.
The upcoming Annapolis conference, Bush's last gasp at his legacy, and the risks from that failing.
www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/02/AR200711020178 4.html
'It's an unlikely recipe for peace: Take one unpopular Israeli prime minister still suffering from setbacks in Lebanon; add one politically weak Palestinian president who has lost control of part of his territory; fold in lukewarm support from Arab states. Now, beat the mixture with an energetic secretary of state and cook over high heat.'
you managed to get through it w/out a typo.
All Irrelevant. Half truth's and overblown. The USA is the strongest nation in the world. We can do whatever we want. We do in fact. Yes war and gas prices hurt the little people like me but in the long run. This nation will thrive and flourish under whatever President chosen by it's people. So all you U.S. haters keep that in mind when you look at all our frontrunners. All of them are more educated and more savvy than anyone else running any country. We have the resources.
And the brains.
are you or are you not the same person who went to jail a few yr's ago for haveing oral sex in a public bathroom?
i think you are SO you have nothing to talk about .
Your kind of egomaniacal display and flag-waving is exactly why the U.S. has a problem. It's the same syndrome that wrecked our big-3 automakers who took their market-share for granted, dismissing the Japanese automakers and their better quality.
All the U.S. has to fall back on is military might, which should be the LAST resort, not the first. Economically, we have to compete with lower cost producers, who can deliver quality as well. Our education policy is a wreck, and China and India are graduating skilled engineers at a far higher rate. We cannot even insure who is in the country illegally.
In terms of diplomacy, we've lost leverage all over the place. Our one-time true strength in the U.N. itself has been diffused, as well as our influence in the Security Council. We are reliant on imported energy, as the U.S. population continues to buy bigger vehicles. The popularity of the U.S. has fallen sharply overseas, and recent policies have increased the numbers of fundamentalists who are motivated towards violence. Our goodwill has been lost, and while a fall in the dollar increases our exports and makes imports more expensive, it also creates risks for those who'd invest in U.S. debt obligations. You are seeing foreign buyers step up for U.S. assets, and our banks looking to those foreign buyers for bailouts following the housing mess; latest being Citibank.
The GOP is flailing to find a palatable candidate, as the party has been co-opted by fundamentalists. Bush and Cheney have distorted Presidential powers to the point that the Constitution is barely recognizable.
www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/points/stories/DN-linde nberger_04edi.ART.State.Edition1.45c59ad.html
By a series of legal maneuvers only recently fully understood, Mr. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have steadily expanded the scope and power of the presidency. The president, they argue, has the right to pull America out of a fully ratified treaty – and without consulting anyone, much less the Senate, whose role in treaty-making is stated so clearly in the Constitution.
The president alone, they've argued, has the power to end fighting in a foreign theater, never mind the fact that the Constitution says Congress, not the president, has the power to declare war. One lawyer for the White House has argued, in fact, that presidents need no involvement from Congress to go to war, much less to end one. A declaration of war is merely a legal nicety, unrelated to the actual fighting of one, he has written.
They also argue that many laws passed by Congress and signed by the president need not be followed or enforced. To bypass them, the president need only issue a statement at the time of signing, spelling out his objections. This is not a novel view, but Mr. Bush has carried it to a new level: In his first five years in office, he signed 750 such statements, more than twice as many as those issued by his father and Bill Clinton combined.
In other ways, too, Mr. Bush has sought to insulate the activities of the executive branch from the oversight of Congress and the courts. He has asserted so-called executive privilege more often, and to cover a wider group of activities, than any of his modern-day predecessors. White House lawyers have argued in court that some of its decisions – most notably its indefinite detentions of citizen and noncitizen enemy combatants – are not only legal, they cannot be reviewed by the Supreme Court or other federal courts.

That's the trouble with CBS: who would EVER trust what they broadcast???
Back to Hirrary and Beiro.
You're going to have to do far better than Iraq stories to get this lemon elected.
'Your kind of egomaniacal display and flag-waving is exactly why the U.S. has a problem. It's the same syndrome that wrecked our big-3 automakers who took their market-share for granted, dismissing the Japanese automakers and their better quality.'
Such stupidity. If people were flag waving they would buy US cars regardless of whether or not we are making second rate gas guzzelers. Eyerolls...
'All the U.S. has to fall back on is military might, which should be the LAST resort, not the first'
We have a gdp that is bigger then the next 5 combined, idiot.
'In terms of diplomacy, we've lost leverage all over the place.'
You are beyond hysterical. I am more and more embarrassed for you when you post. Shrill, crazy, all over the place, not addressing anything... Your posts have become a paranoiac stream of consciousness which invariably have nothing to do with the topic at hand.
I REALLLLLLLY think you need to turn off the computer and go find a shrink. Someone who you can discuss your need to create scapegoats with and to figure out why you need to sh*t in your own nest. You are going to be a bitter, unsuccessful and fundamentally unhappy person until you address some of the issues that are holding you back.

The Outstanding Public Debt as of 04 Nov 2007 at 08:28:30 PM GMT is:-
....................$9,084,458,066,921.84.............................. ...
The estimated population of the United States is 303,443,129
so each citizen's share of this debt is $29,937.93.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.44 billion per day since September 29, 2006!
Concerned? Then tell Congress and the White House!
NINE TRILLION DLLARS.
NINE TRILLION DOLLARS
hope you got that second time around?
Nine point One TRILLION DOLLARS within twenty-one days.
$9.1 Trl.
We have a saying in America:
When you borrow one thousand dollars and don't pay it back, you're in trouble.
When you borrow one MILLION dollars and don't pay it back, the lender is in trouble!
Who's quakin now, big boy!?
Don't worry about us. What happens to our trade partners if we fail?
Go ask the european finance ministers who have been in the press whining about the weakness of the dollar drying up their exports.
Time to wake up: You live in a global community. Americans know this because we spend half our defense and economic development dollars helping other nations be safe and prosper. Our trading partners are the most prosperous in the world. Our allies KNOW we stand with them.
Credibility: it's good credit, no?
Just the random rantings of the frustrated, paying no attention whatever to the facts of the moment.
'And we can all thank Microsoft word for your new found ability to spell.'
(No, idiot, I went to school when we still had an educational system, and before spell checkers. Some of us are coherent; and some just blindly back the Administration and rely on juvenile 'LOL' as commentary, instead of dealing with facts. Remarkable how people with such low I.Q.'s can actually function, let alone make their way to the venue to bootlick Administration policies that make things worse with each passing day.)

Pakistan is under martial law, and Bush can do nothing about it, as he needs Musharraf in place to control the situation. Threats to discontinue aid are meaningless, as is Bush himself in this situation.

Afghanistan is slowly coming apart, province by province, as the economy is based on opium, and the Taliban realize that they don't need to control major cities in order to control events.
www.eurasianet.org/departments/insight/articles/pp110407.shtml
Much of the world’s attention on Afghanistan is now focused on the country’s Pashtun-dominated south and east, where Taliban fighters are battling NATO troops and U.S.-led coalition forces. But there is a different kind of tension in northern Afghanistan.
Illegal ethnic-Tajik, Uzbek, and Hazara militias in the north appear to be using the threat of a resurgent Taliban as an excuse to hoard weapons and more forcefully protect their interests, such as ruling over land they have controlled since the Taliban’s collapse or defending drug export routes that are a major source of income.
Experts say the entrenchment of the militias, who once fought together against the Taliban, reflects divisions and mistrust among regional commanders of different ethnicities which -- if left unchecked -- could exacerbate tensions in the country at a time when its security situation is already on a razor’s edge.
'Obviously, what is happening in the north is really the growing Balkanization of the country,' said Sam Zia-Zarifi, a spokesman for Human Rights Watch and field researcher in Afghanistan who has monitored programs by the United Nations and Afghan government to disarm the militias.

Bush is putting his chips on the Annapolis meeting, and since Cheney is chiming in as well, we cannot walk away from it. This is a meeting of weakened leaders, with Israel looking for a postcard-full of generalizations, and the Palestinians looking for a detailed solution. This is an extraordinarily complex undertaking, with none of the parties having the full backing of their own people. Dr. Rice deserves a medal if she can pull this one off; or at least have everyone leave the table in the same shape as they are now.

Japan cannot even hold their government together, at this point, and in the process the U.S. has lost refueling capability in the Indian Ocean.
www.reuters.com/article/businessEditorsPick/idUST27316720071104
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's main opposition leader offered to resign on Sunday, just days after his party turned down an offer from the prime minister to join a new coalition and end a deadlock in parliament, Kyodo news agency reported.
Kyodo said Democratic Party executives were trying to persuade Ichiro Ozawa not step down from the top party post, a move that analysts said could prompt the party to unravel just months after it won a huge victory in an election for parliament's upper house.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US Defence Secretary Robert Gates expressed hope that Japan will resume a maritime mission in the support of the 'war on terror' soon despite having called two ships home. The Japanese destroyer Kirisame and the supply ship Tokiwa were ordered back to Japan after the parliament allowed their naval refueling mission in the Indian Ocean to expire.
Gates, who is scheduled to visit Japan next week, said the ships' departure would have no impact on coalition operations but he said he hoped it was temporary. 'My hope is that, relatively soon, in a matter of weeks -- or I hope not more than a few months -- this assistance will be able to be renewed,' he said. 'We welcome Japan's partnership in the war on terror.'
Some people need to learn more about economical figures and politics combined .Why has China received a special economical status in the nineties ?If we have to believe SP4 ,campaign funding is the reason .What a lack of knowledge of his own economy .China opened it's country for foreign investors more than a decade ago .The first to crash the gates were of course US and European companies looking for the opportunity to make a quick buck .I guess most of you already knew the bulk of your textile comes from china,so do shoes and a lot more articles .For all the american companies investing in China there would be no incentive if import from China was to be restricted .It would leave thme with production capacity but no outlet for their production .THAT is the true reason why there are special commercial ties between China and the USA .No need to introduce the SP4 paranoic explanation concerning the Clintons .That would make for the irrational explanation of the paranoid mind frame .I agree that the US economy is not in such a good shape .Sorry about that .Profits are high and so are the stock markets on the average .THe problems are somewhere else .I'd say the nature of your industry is the problem .Whatever could be outsourced has been done ,precisely to China for it's cheap wages .What remains is high tech industries and the armament industry .Now we know the armament industry does not exactly manufacure consumer goods ,don't we ? So there is no added benefit for the population of the USA deriving from this industry .THe main client for this market is your own government .Hence the gigantic debt .All this keeps the job market alive on a credit basis .
THe 9 trillion dollar hole will have to be plugged at some stage .Meanwhile there are of course interests to be paid ,billions of it per annum .To keep the interest payments low the usual trick is to lower the interest rate .Very handy also for your real estate bizness as too much people have problems with their mortgage.
Very soon some very expensive investments will have to be made to curb the pending issues of climate change .No good news is seaping in from that subject .Only bad news ,I' afraid .As drought progresses and water levels are sinking prices of food will raise fast .And so will the price for energy .Nuclear plants will not provide you with cheap energy .Uranium stocks are depleting too and at the projected rate construction rate of nuclear plants in the world energy prices will raise fast .So it seemps the USA do have a strong militaruy capabilty but eeconomically is wasting precious time and resources building lots and lots of weapons which are useless, except at generating tons of money for the boards of Raytheon,Grumman,General Eclectric and the likes .Wouldn't you rather all spend your money on something usefull, not throwing it into the lap of the weapon merchants ?
Our resident propagandist cannot see one foot in front of him, and that's a fatal flaw. This Administration, likewise, completely misjudged Iraq, and was unable to comprehend the effect of a wrongheaded policy. The economics of the next 20 years, likewise, are not being understood by those wrapped up in past glories, rather than current economics.
www.hrmguide.net/international/world-gdp.htm
April 1 2006 - A new research report from the Economist Intelligence Unit predicts that more than half the growth in the world's GDP over the next 15 years will come from China (27%), the US (16%) and India (12%).
Real GDP growth in selected countries - 2006-20
(annual average %)
World = 3.5%
USA = 2.9%
Asia = 4.9%
China = 6.0%
India = 5.9%
(Those figures are somewhat outdated. U.S. productivity is below expectations, and China has accelerated their economic programs).
in.rediff.com/money/2006/jan/18china.htm
China leads Asian productivity with an average rate of 8.7 per cent since 2000, more than double than that of India at 4.1 per cent, a report by a global business research firm has said.
The report by Conference Board, which provides comprehensive worldwide measures of labour productivity, said India's rate stood at 4.4 per cent in 2004.
But it clarified that the figures for India should be seen in the perspective of faster employment growth at about 2 per cent during recent years, which was double the growth of labour input in China.
'China experienced a similar phase of moderate productivity growth during the late 1980s and early 1990s,' the report said. Referring to current Chinese productivity growth, it said, 'This significant acceleration in productivity growth is striking as average productivity growth in China was just 3.1 per cent from 1995-2000.'
This suggests that the dramatic changes in reform policies and the increase in openness prior to China's ascension to the World Trade Organisation showed their major impact during the most recent years, it added. The report said that the times of high US labour productivity growth rates were over, at least for now, though adding it was still healthy compared to many other developed nations, standing at 1.8 per cent in 2005.
sigh...
'The Outstanding Public Debt as of 04 Nov 2007 at 08:28:30 PM GMT is:-
....................$9,084,458,066,921.84.............................. ...'
Firstly; that is mostly entitlements, in other words, money that we have 'borrowed' from ourselves.
Secondly; our GDP is 13 trillion dollars. As a percentage of GDP our debt load isn't that unusual and certaintly not that alarming. Especially when you consider 'Firstly'.
Thirdly, I wish that the number was zero, however our government wastes money. This has been the case regardless of the administration since the 'Great society' programs of the '60's and '70's. We have too many entitlements, too many spending programs and too many idiots flushing money down the toilet. We are going to need to get a handle on this and I can tell you right now that electing a fiscally conservative administration this next time around is critical. If you think that THIS is an alarming number wait until you get the bill for socialized medicine.
'The estimated population of the United States is 303,443,129
so each citizen's share of this debt is $29,937.93.'
You are not including the Wallmart's and the Microsoft's and the Boeing's and the McDonalds and the 'Me's' that are incorporated who already pay the lions share of taxes. Additionally, since we 'owe' most of that money to ourselves in the form of social security ect, it is not a real reflection of the individual debt load.
Further, since we are allowing the dollar to shrink moderately and inflation to rise moderately, the effective value of our debt becomes lessened in comparison to the value that was 'borrowed'. (Or promised, which is usually the case.) If you take in to account the low interest rates on the ACTUAL debt the money that we have borrowed (As opposed to the money that we have promised in the form of entitlements) was borrowed at a rate that makes it almost interest free.
Now that your head has exploded why don't you post your debt clock again and ask me if I have gotten it.
'Just the random rantings of the frustrated, paying no attention whatever to the facts of the moment.'
More psychological projection. You immediately follow that statement with completely arbitrary cut and pastes about:
Pakistan...
Afghanistan...
Tajik, Uzbek, and Hazara militias...
The Annapolis meeting...
Japan cannot even hold their government together...
Gates expressed hope that Japan will resume a maritime mission...
FOOL! THE SUBJECT WAS HILLARY CLINTON!
Now you want to accuse ME of posting 'random rantings of the frustrated, paying no attention whatever to the facts of the moment'.... You are just not in control of yourself. Your posts are streams of consciousness. Again, sound and fury, signifying nothing.
'And we can all thank Microsoft word for your new found ability to spell.'
(No, idiot, I went to school when we still had an educational system, and before spell checkers.'
I had been correcting your spelling for months before you got sick of it and started typing your completely random effluence in to a program with a spell checker. Even now it occasionally turns on the BOLD typeface here because of a formatting quirk. You are not fooling anyone, idiot.
'Some of us are coherent'
Yeah, tell us all about how it's Bush's fault that Japan can't keep it's government together.... You, seriously, are anything but coherent.
' The economics of the next 20 years, likewise, are not being understood by those wrapped up in past glories, rather than current economics.'
See the above post. Please, don't lecture me about economics from your hovel in your mothers basement. That is the biggest joke yet, 'power point boy'.
'A new research report from the Economist Intelligence Unit predicts that more than half the growth in the world's GDP over the next 15 years will come from China (27%), the US (16%) and India (12%).'
Again, idiot, China is starting from a lower baseline then the USA. If their economy grows at a higher percentage of growth rate that doesn't mean, necessarily, that they are creating more wealth then we are. If china has a dollar, and grows their dollar by 10% they wind up with a $1.10. If we have $10.00 and grow our economy by 3% that means we have still created more wealth then they have even though their economy 'grew' by more.
'China leads Asian productivity with an average rate of 8.7 per cent since 2000,'
Great, move to China. Maybe they can give you a real job there. Not as an economist though.
Is Hillary really worth 6 pages of discussions? The nation's real issues are those that you fail to mention; rather than backing into your usual trivial view, tweezers in hand. Then, when you fail again to make a coherent case, you call that entire discussion 'off topic' while disparaging those who dispute your exalted opinion of yourself, instead of discussing it. This is moral cowardice. SP4 only participates where he can engage in political backbiting, instead of recognizing the real issues. Our resident propagandist, on the other hand, is like the Guns of Navarone, hiding in a cave and coming out to take shots, and is otherwise invisible in accomplishing anything except to defend the same flawed policies that he seems irrevocably attached to - going down with the Ship of State, so to speak, while blaming everyone else.
Here's a superb column by Zakaria, in which he gives due credit to Petraeus for seizing an opportunity, and grasping that Bush's policy is NOT the answer; but rather policies that achieve something. The last included paragraph sums up the situation that will get in the way of our 'success' in Iraq, a definition that's changed numerous times already. He speaks of Bush's delusions, but covers yours just as well.
www.newsweek.com/id/67924/?rf=snewsletter
The key is that Petraeus has been willing to do what no American official has until now: accept Iraq for what it is and not what Washington wants it to be. Searching for a stable order, Petraeus has allied himself with whoever, within reason, could produce that order.
In insurgent-ridden Anbar he realized that the only way to effectively fight Al Qaeda in Iraq was to have allies within the Sunni community rather than to use a largely Shiite and Kurdish Army. That meant cozying up to Sunni tribesmen, even those with shady pasts. Several Sunni towns and neighborhoods report being given money, infrastructure and training directly by the United States. Petraeus has, in effect, given up hopes of Shiite leaders in Baghdad reconciling with Sunnis, and instead he's made up with them himself. The result has been that Al Qaeda in Iraq has been marginalized, Sunni leaders no longer demand an American withdrawal and the Shiites have recognized that America's support is not unconditional.
In the Shiite south, U.S. policy has abandoned the goal of an impartial government and has picked a side: Abdul Aziz al-Hakim's Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), which holds sway over most local governments in the region. We complain loudly about the infiltration of militias into the national police and Army, by which we have usually meant members of Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army. But we have been far more reluctant to weed out members of ISCI's militia, the Badr Brigades. Petraeus has even been somewhat accommodating of the Sadrists. In Baghdad, U.S. forces now primarily target 'rogue' Mahdi Army militants. The more maintsream Sadrists have been tacitly allowed to operate in several Shiite areas. Of course, we've always been realistic about Kurdistan, where we have encouraged a quasi-independent state run by political parties with their own militias.
Back in Washington, President Bush continues to talk about Iraq's shining democracy in speeches that seem utterly detached from reality. This is a nation where 4.5 million people have fled their homes, ethnic cleansing has transformed whole cities and religious fanatics have imposed a theocratic rule that is often more extreme than in Iran. In much of the country, thugs rule the streets. The police chief of Basra told the Iraqi newspaper Al-Sabah last week, 'Most of Basra's ports, especially Umm Qasr, are under the control of militia gangs. The police force is incapable of executing its duties because its members report to the militias.' The central government is barely functioning. Half of the cabinet ministries are either vacant or nonfunctional. Iraq's oil production is down this year. Sectarian divisions are, in some ways, getting worse.
China is starting from a lower total economic base, but the compound rate of growth there, plus India, will leave their combined GDP AHEAD of ours in the future. TREND matters, and our drop in productivity is crucial, while they have numerous opportunities to GAIN in productivity, including using less oil in production of goods.
China's GDP growth rate for 2006 was 11.1%, and a middle class is forming, which can afford consumer goods and cars. This is their 'ME' generation, and they're more self-involved than concerned about politics and Communism, so long as they get what they want.
www.rieti.go.jp/en/columns/a01_0000.html
China's GDP is currently $1.08 trillion, about a tenth of the United State's $9.87 trillion. Assuming constant prices and a fixed yuan/dollar, and that China and the United States continue to grow at 8% and 3% per annum, respectively, it would take 46 years for China to surpass the United States in terms of GDP. If sooner or later the downward trend of the yuan against the dollar turns into an upward trend, however, this catching up process would be shortened significantly.
gideon.sulekha.com/blog/post/2006/11/india-china-to-beat-g7-gdp.htm
Former World Bank Chief James Wolfensohn in a speech made at the University of News South Wales, Sydney, has predicted that in 25 years’ time the combined GDP of China plus India will surpass that of the G7 (United States of America, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom) and that the GDP of China will surpass that of the US by that time.
James Wolfensohn predicted that by 2050, China's current US$2 trillion GDP would have increased to $48.6 trillion, while that of India, whose GDP is currently about $1 trillion, would be $27 trillion (these estimates being based on projections by the investment bank Goldman Sachs). In comparison, the $13 trillion dollar GDP of the US at the moment would increase to only $37 trillion, well below that of China.

People that are too smart only make matters worse because they overthink everything and seem to believe that this leads to that and thayt leads to this and so on......
The world is much simpler than you want it to be. Hillary will never be president and Obama can just quit now his numbers during election time will not even rank.
BLah!
Some things never change. The Los Angeles Times last week reported that in New York City Hillary Clinton brings fresh meaning to Chinese take out. Her campaign’s hauling in bundles of cash from impoverished Chinese areas. Dishwashers, waiters, street vendors, and other folks not normally considered fat cats are generously donating.
Homeless for Hillary No Occident
Said a $1,000 campaign contributor: “They informed us to go (to a Clinton fundraiser), so I went.” Ah, doing what you’re told, just like in the old country. “Everybody was making a donation, so I did too. Otherwise I would lose face.”
The Times looked at 150 of those in the Chinese community giving money to Mrs. Clinton. Most aren’t registered to vote. A full third of them couldn’t be located using property, telephone, or business records. Newspaper staffers found some campaign contributors not living at the addresses they supplied and no one there had ever heard of them.
Perhaps that’s to be expected. In areas where almost half the people live below the poverty line, homelessness is likely. Thus, it’s probable Mrs. Clinton is performing a near miracle: she’s garnering contributions from the homeless.
It may be prudent, though, for her to not so rigorously follow her husband’s Asian money policy. Voters might be reminded of the Impeached One and his very special 1996 Chinese connections.
Johnny Chung, a Clinton fundraiser, declared the Clinton White House was “like a subway - you have to put in coins to open the gates.” And Johnny always brought plenty of coins, visiting the White House more than four dozen times, often with Chinese business executives.
Mr. Chung later told a congressional committee that not all the money he contributed to Democrats was his. He recounted a meeting with the head of Chinese military intelligence, who informed him: “We like your president very much. We hope to see him re-elected. I will give you 300,000 U.S dollars. You can give it to your president and the Democratic Party.”
Hillary’s chief of staff admitted taking $50,000 from Mr. Chung in the White House, a clear violation of the law prohibiting political donations on federal property. Mrs. Clinton’s aide claimed one reason she accorded Chung this special handling was because, like her, he’s a minority. Don’t you just love it?
Also helping Clinton in his re-election bid was Charles Yah Lin Trie. Mr. Trie was a Little Rock restaurateur whose establishment Bill once frequented. Records show the businessman visiting the Clinton White House at least 22 times. The more than $1.3 million that he rustled up had to be returned after investigation.
You didn’t need to be Inspector Clouseau to suspect something funny was going on with Trie’s bundling. The Clintons required cash for lawyers’ fees as well as the campaign. You’ll recall that Bill, who Hillary contended was merely ministering to a troubled young intern, stood accused of improprieties – including perjury - and had to defend himself in court. A legal defense fund was established.
The helpful Trie dropped off two envelopes containing $460,000 in $1,000 contributions for the defense fund. Some of the gifts were sequentially numbered money orders with the same handwriting, even though they were supposedly from different people. The currency exchange sure must have been busy that day.
Having raised money for Democrats for several years, John Huang was recommended for a job in the Clinton administration by the late Senator Paul Simon (D-IL). A spot at the Commerce Department was found for him as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Economic Policy, which must look great on a business card. A man with Huang’s bag man skills, however, wasn’t going to wallow there for long.
After 18 months and with the personal intervention of Clinton, Huang moved to the Democratic National Committee in a job created especially for him, Vice Finance Chairman. In the 15 months before the election, he was welcomed to the White House dozens of times and, he said, often met with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton.
One corporate check for a quarter of a million dollars given to Huang earned five Asian businessmen face time with the President of the United States. Yet once again the pesky Republican majority in Congress investigated and that money, as well as over $1 million more from Huang, had to be returned because it was tainted.
There was much more to the fundraising scandals, including the White House easing restrictions on transferring missile-related technologies to China; Al Gore raking in dough from impecunious monks and nuns at a Buddhist temple; and Attorney General Janet Reno rejecting FBI Director Louis Freeh’s recommendation to appoint an independent counsel to investigate Clinton and Gore’s fundraising.
Bill Clinton maintained he was “as appalled as the next person” by revelations his campaign accepted so many illegal foreign donations. The next person must have been the Mrs. The Federal Election Commission fined Democrats $719,000 for taking unlawful contributions. Congressional review wasn’t too successful. The House Committee of Government Reform and Oversight noted:
“Because of the unprecedented lack of cooperation of witnesses, including 120 relevant individuals who either asserted Fifth Amendment privileges or fled the country, both the House and Senate investigations were severely hampered.”
Still, Hillary should be more careful this time around. It was only a couple of months ago that a whopping $45,000 in contributions from a California postal worker of Chinese descent and his family were made public. Voters might start paying attention.
Maybe she just can’t control herself. An hour after taking Chinese money, she’s hungry for more. After all, the Clintons are known for their appetites.
Is was a LOT more than just China coming out...
What is it with the Clintons and the Chinese mafia?
SP4 know like a taint more than I do about our topics here but I can tell you now. I have not been proven wrong yet. None of the facts figures and stats brought up in other comments reflect at all on Hillary or Barack or George or Fred or Rudy in any way whatsoever. That is why AMERICA will always be a POWER to be reckoned with. If your intent to bring up WHITEWATER or something else up from LOOOOOOONG ago. Go ahead.
I have been trying to teach you about relevancy.
All the atrocities made by terrorist factions. What are you trying to prove ? That I have a point? That I am right ? I don't get it. We've been over this ground before. We all know terrorism is real and terrible.
Most of all wrong. Are you bragging about all your affiliates and murders you have been part of ? Educate me you seem to be very smart.
'Then why 6 pages of discussion?'
Why indeed?
'Is Hillary really worth 6 pages of discussions?'
I guess we will never know since you have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and couldn't focus your brain if your life depended on it.
'The nation's real issues are those that you fail to mention'
YOU WERE THE ONE LAMENTING THAT THERE WAS 'No one on the topic, Just the random rantings of the frustrated, paying no attention whatever to the facts of the moment.'
NOW that you have been called out on your scatter shot blather, you turn on a dime and say, well she isn't worth talking about. Someone could get whiplash if they actually were paying attention to your sh*t.
The subject was Hillary Clinton, trying to pander to the center by advocating a tougher line with Iran. Much like you, she will change her mind so many times that any opinion she floats today will be rendered useless by tomorrows weaseling and flip flops.
' rather than backing into your usual trivial view, tweezers in hand.'
The tweezers are yours, usually reserved for use at your porn sites.
'Then, when you fail again to make a coherent case'
Again... You are pathetic. Thus far, you sad thing, you have blathered incoherently from everything from 'Watergate' to Illegal ethnic-Tajik, Uzbek, and Hazara militias... Somehow you fancy that coherent?
'while disparaging those who dispute your exalted opinion of yourself, instead of discussing it.'
You haven't disputed squat yet. Just come up with new claims to demonstrate that the sky is falling.
'SP4 only participates where he can engage in political backbiting, instead of recognizing the real issues. '
I can't/wont speak for SP4 but perhaps, like anyone with a triple digit IQ he doesn't think that 'Japan cannot even hold their government together, at this point' is a REAL issue, especially in terms of how it relates to 'Hillary backs Iran sanctions under fire from rivals'.... Perhaps he just sees an hysterical ninnie throwing as much cr*p against the wall as she can, hoping something sticks. You need to be medicated.
'Here's a superb column by Zakaria'
What do we want to bet that this is a heavily redacted, leftist tract that again, doesn't have the words 'Hillary' or 'Clinton' anywhere in it?
'in which he gives due credit to Petraeus for seizing an opportunity, and grasping that Bush's policy is NOT the answer'
OK, so Bush didn't send Petraeus... Whatever. Besides, you have been shrieking that Petraeus has failed in full lock step with the talking points that you automatically toss out when they have been inserted in to your skull by the people who you let do your thinking for you.
Fine, give all the credit to Petraeus. He deserves it. At least you are acknowledging that, despite your interminable defeatism over the past 6-9 months you have been WRONG.
Re the article, this is part of what you elected to cut out as it doesn't fit with the propaganda you wish to push:
The Presidential campaign has jostled this way and that, contenders have risen and fallen, but the one fixture in the political firmament has been Iraq. Polls have consistently said Iraq would be the central issue of the 2008 campaign. The candidates have developed elaborately studied and rehearsed positions on the war. But what if the subject moves off center stage? In the new NEWSWEEK Poll, the economy now tops Iraq as the issue that voters say will most influence their choice for president, 22 percent to 19 percent. For two years, Iraq dominated these kinds of surveys. Only a month ago, in a CBS News poll, 28 percent of respondents wanted Iraq to be the campaign's most-discussed issue, while the economy came in second at 16 percent. One can't make too much of one poll, but other evidence also suggests that the gap seems to be closing.
Why is this happening? The administration would argue that it is a consequence of the surge. And there's some truth to this. Violence is down, Al Qaeda in Iraq is weaker and American casualties are falling. Gen. David Petraeus's new strategy is working, though not exactly for the reasons initially advertised.'
In other words, as Iraq continues to improve, and it will, (As I have mentioned there is already talk of 'son of surge') it will deprive the democrats of their one issue to club the republicans with. You will have to fall back on the economy... Good fricking luck with that. I would guess that just about everyone other then you and tonny have made out like bandits over the past few years. :-D
But yes, a heavily redacted, leftist written tract that again, doesn't have the words 'Hillary' or 'Clinton' anywhere in it... Shocker! The funny thing is, it basically states that the people you are rooting for are losing here and in the middle east.
'China is starting from a lower total economic base, but the compound rate of growth there, plus India, will leave their combined GDP AHEAD of ours in the future.'
China and India are 2 different countries, idiot. Their GDP will never be 'combined' idiot.
'TREND matters'
Regardless, we are talking in a timescale of literally centuries. Lots of things can happen between now and then.
'and our drop in productivity is crucial,'
Good thing it isn't dropping but increasing. The USA has the highest worker productivity of any country in the world, despite your presence wrecking the bell curve.
'China's GDP growth rate for 2006 was 11.1%'
See the whole 'baseline' thing.... Its per-capita GDP, even when measured by purchasing-power parity, is $7600 per person, considerably less than one-fifth that of the United States. Good heavens, why do I bother.
'This is their 'ME' generation, and they're more self-involved than concerned about politics and Communism, so long as they get what they want.'
Excellent, the 'me' generation isn't going to settle for 1/5th the PPP of an American. That ought to upset their 11.1% growth rate in spades. Once these people start demanding to be allowed to live like human beings and not over caffeinated ants that growth rate will collapse. The Olympics are the beginning of the end for Chinese authoritarianism, and in turn, that is the beginning of the end for their overheated economy. I hope we do not catch cold from the coming case of Asian pneumonia.
Some people are really paranoid about the outside world .I see nothing wring with China or India getting better living conditions for their population. So I don't care if the USA is not the strongest economical power in the future,it shouldn't matter to anyone,as long as living conditions improve for all as we are all partners in a global economy .So anybody opposing China to the USA can count me out, bragging is not interesting at all .
I'm just getting a bit weary of the insults and the mudslinging .SP4 is inlfating his paranoia to include the rest of the world, particularly China .Sorry pal ,they ARE the biggest nation on earth, you better build your self esteem on something else than flag waving and bragging .Perhaps a little study in introducing health care would even benefit you .I just read the figures that the US population is spending twice a much as the average european per capita on doctor's bills .With apparently little result as the life expectancy and standards of medicine are below average european standards .Republican candidate R Giuliani had the guts to proudly declare that private care is performing better than european ,based on flawed statistics regarding one disease only .Bad lucj as he was opposed by all the medical professionals and the institutes .I hope you guys will benefit from better health care in the near future, and also a more open education system .We don't have to loan heaps of money for our children to go to university .It shouldn't be like that for anyone .Democracy involves much more than casting a vote every four years for one of two candidates .It involves the right to free health care and education .Something a bit less trivial than the usual neocon ranting about Clinton's presumed peccadillo's .Learn to differentiate the real issues, not the bullshit that FOX feeds you .
Citygroup Chairman/Chief Executive CHARLES PRICE has just been forced to resign after his bank plummented 57% in the sub-prime morgage market. He will be replaced by ex-US Secretary Robert Rubin .
He is the second head of a major US bank to step down within a week and another two are expected to follow within a fortnight,
i have never seen anyone so wraped up in bullshit like sp4 is.
this idot must crap politics. i think he's gonna snap
I guess we agree to disagree. No one person here made a good point but me just now.
...that's terrific, but what does the citigroup thing have to do with this post???
Tonny, I also have no issue with nationsl like China lifting themselves out of poverty.
I only have an issue with MY elected representatives taking bribes for influence from them, like Bill and Hillary, Al Gore, etc.
There are THOUSANDS of pages of testimony, and, of course, the golden proof, Crinton's MFN for china, bought and paid for by the Chinese Intell groups!
Read the post again, Tonny, they even went on record with it!
I may be crazy, but that fact still does not make me wrong!
SP:4 .
Bush has run up a $9trl deficit... as the £ and the Euro grows the $ shrinks and gets weak.
So how does this affect the US in real terms. ?

Foreclosure wave sweeps America
By Steve Schifferes
BBC economics reporter, Cleveland, Ohio
Thousands of abandoned houses in Cleveland have been vandalized
A wave of foreclosures and evictions is about to sweep the United States in the wake of the sub-prime mortgage lending crisis.
This could destabilise the US housing market and may also lead to further turmoil in financial institutions, who collectively own $1 trillion (£480.6bn) worth of sub-prime debt.
Cleveland, Ohio, is an industrial city on the banks of Lake Erie in the US 'rust belt'.
It is the sub-prime capital of the United States. One in ten homes in the city is now vacant, and whole neighbourhoods have been blighted by foreclosed, vandalized and boarded-up homes.
SP:4 Sad ,but true.
I won't give you the rest of this,it makes grim reading.
you know.....I have said it before and I will say it AGAIN. The USA is not ready for Ms. Hirrary or Bolock Obrama. It will not happen. All the support for both of them has already come forward. Come election time there will be a different set of numbers. Those who back either one WILL BE very sad. Don't get me wrong. I think either of them would do an ok job in the Whitehouse but..........they aint making it.
That was my point all along so STOP getting upset and defending points that will not help her or hurt her. She will not make it.
'Blank check' seen headed Bush's way, despite Democratic promises to change course in Iraq
Nick Juliano
Published: Monday November 5, 2007
Democratic leaders in Congress are quietly preparing to give President Bush essentially everything he wants to keep the Iraq war going for at least another six months without forcing any change in course.
Swept into power on the votes of war-weary Americans last year, Congressional Democrats have so far failed in all their attempts to curtail Bush's war efforts. As they consider the president's latest request for $200 billion in supplementary war funding party leaders have pledged not to hand over another 'blank check.'
But, as Roll Call reports, a 'blank check' is exactly what appears headed for the Pentagon.
'Democratic leaders continue to fear GOP attacks that cutting off or slowing funds would hurt the troops, despite anger among the Democratic base over the party’s failure to use Congress’ power of the purse to end the war,' reports the Capitol Hill newspaper's Steven T. Dennis.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-WI) have said they won't consider a supplemental funding bill that doesn't include timelines for troop withdrawals. But, Dennis reports, 'Democrats are quietly preparing to give the president enough spending flexibility to keep the war going anyway,' for as long as six more months.
:-D
It is not because you mentioned the word 'chinese ' twenty times that you have an argument ,SP4 ,Except your 'thousands' of pages (which idiot is responsible for that ) with no content except wind ,you are getting nowhere .IF there was ANY credibility in your assumptions, there would have been a trial, believe me the republicans are drooling over it .They spent 30 million dollars in a silly investigation concerning a blow job ( or was it a cigar ?)So stop being ridiculous or come up with proof .It gets boring but you still keep repeating your lies without any evidence .What I find even much more appalling is that you blame the Clintons for something the present administration is performing on a regular basis .I guess even you must know that Abramovich HAS confessed bribing republican polticians .Perhaps you also know the golden road that leads from the republican establishment to the corporate world ,and from the Pentagon to the weapons industry ?I'll spare you the examples for the moment ,unless you specifically ask .
What is more urgent is another economical lecture .Understand that your country has a very great economical potential .Providing you make the right choices .Do you understand that all the money that goes into armament is wasted for the population ?It is a diversion from consumer goods to useless stuff that can only be piled up and thrown away when obsolete .A waste of energy, human resources, materials and last but not least taxpayers money .Imagine the education system, the health system you could build with that enormous amount of money .All for the better of your own population and the rest of the world .
From the lousy experience the world had with your neocon friends it is clear that this gigantic amounts of weapons is even useless for fighting terrorism .Overkill ,plain and simple .What is needed is a good foreign political understanding .Not something to be expected from your neocon friends .Remember how they invaded Iraq searching for Al Quaida (nowhere to be found or WMD (nothing either, except in your private universe ) .
Concentrate on learning to understand other points of view .Do you think there is ant sense of truth in childish explanations for terrorism as given by Bush ?Like ;they hate our freedom...that is the kind of explanation you give to a three year old child, because it understands nothing more complicated .Is this what you are ?If not;look for something more complex ,the world reveals itself only yo those that make efforts to study ,sorry .
... to find out that his poster boy Fred Thompson has a drug dealer and tax evader as his campaign advisor. (Fact!)
...except most of your uselsss diatribe has nothing to do with Hirrary being crooked as a west VA. dirt road.
The ECONOMY?????Bush HAS a terrific economy Tonny! Record employment, job creation and tax receipts, along with low inflation, make it an almost indestructible force! If nothing else, the Bush economy is the gold standard for the world!
Bush has, at great personal expense, dug deep to deliver freedom to the world's oppressed, when all he had to do was just sit back and let it happen. He has cleaned up the Crintons messes from Libya to N. Korea, got Saddam once and for all, freed 50 million people from the yoke of their islamist oppressors all while building an economy that is the envy of the world. No, Tonny, I'll stick with the man.
As for the other poster: good for Fred. The guy sounds about half as bad as Sandy Berg(l)ar.
'Hi, I'm Sandy Berger. I know, I've been doing some pretty bad things lately...and...well...before that too...., but with my new job helping Hillary all I can say is I'm here to stay!'
'...chinese...yes, I know chinese...lots of them!'
SP4, in your list of Bush economic accomplishments .... you forgot to mention that he's managed to run the national debt up to more than 9,000 billion dollars (with another year to spend even more borrowed money) ...
... Just the interest payments alone on that debt is BIGGER than ALL govnm't entitlement programs COMBINED!!!!!
And SP4, you also forgot to mention that Bush has successfully been the Commander & Thief who managed to run things so well that the US Dollar has been devalued by more than 30% under his leadership.
Golly Gee Wally, Bush has sure been busy doin all those wonderful things like borrowing more money than our grand-kids, grand-kids could ever pay back and making our money worthless ... er I mean, worth less.
Gee how does he ever find the time?
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to call up my ol'buddy Fred Thompson to see about gettin me some more of that great dope & stuff from his campaign advisor.
The end.
...except we never, once heard the same criticism about Lyndon Johnson, the man who squandered your social security on Vietnam. No, it was OK for him, and they even tried to tag Nixon for the war!
No, Bush DID spend on this war. The only question you should ask yourself is why Hillary backed his play?????
My guess: she either wanted him to fail or she did not want to be left behind.
Yep, Hillary and GW. Glad you get a choice, huh?
As for your devalued currency....buy american.
why don't you run.
you seem to know everthing and certanly more than bush will ever know.
I saw SP4's reply to that ! It said SP$ Be glad to ( DI-K head )
--------STOP
Happy to!
Tonny ,as usual SP:4 has his thumbs in his ears, so he can't hear, his index fingers over his eyes, so he can't see and the rest of his hands over his mouth, so he can't speak, because he thinks he is the original wise monkey.
lol
...I'm not wearing a tinfoil hat in my mom's basement, tossing off to posts in M&C, and waiting for the overlords to come in their spaceships like you Cynic...
Take your meds...and try...to post something useful. This is boring enough without you making it worse.
sp4 would love to get hilliary in the sack
...but I'd have to be Rosie O'Donnel...
It must be worthy of an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records that so many people create 9 pages of utter crap at the mere mention of that 60 year old cow Hillary Clinton, loving wife and supporter of former President Pervert Billy the Willy ( suck my cock ) Clinton, sexual deviant extraordinary. A man selected to steer the United States to glory, but chose to use the Oral Room to do a deep throat act on a girl young enough to be his daughter.
What a degenerate disgusting nation you are to condone this gutter snipe behaviour at Presidential level. You should have kicked the stinking scumbag out on his draft-dodging arse with the ignomony and public disgrace he deserved.
Letting his old bag get this far in a Presidential primary !!!!! You all need your heads banged together. WHAT A COUNTRY WE HAVE AS WORLD LEADERS.
No little wonder you have half the world hating you and the other half blowing you up.
Most men go to the bathroom to wash their dick, Billy the Willy obviously dispensed with this fundamental civilised procedure and simply stuck it into somebodies mouth. Saves leaving the office.
...all of that may be true, but these presidents of ours managed to throw off our colonial oppressors, settle a continent, abolish slavery, build the transcontinental railroad, the Panama canal, win two world wars, defeat communism and won the cold war, and put a man on the moon while providing security and the most solid ally and trade partner in the world.
The people that hate the USA are Luddite, subjugated, bigoted, illiterate, arrogant fools, with a half empty glass in their left hand and a swastika in the other.
If the world hates us, so be it. They can all pull a slick willy on me and I'd be happy.
SP4 - I am the first person to appreciate what America has done for the world. Without the astronomic US and Russian sacrifices in blood, resources and finance, all the Far East would still be under the barbaric fist of the Japs and all of Europe including the UK would be under Nazi oppression. God only knows what the world would be like today with that situation. Our eternal gratitude to America is infinite.
Oh yes SP4, go back to your pram and play with your plastic toys, I know ALL about what the world owes America and am the first to say so and fly your flag.
By the way old man - Billy the Willy did nothing except dip his dick in peoples mouths apart from previously dodging the Viet Nam draft by running like a scared rabbit to Canada.
BUT you ignorant piece of over-sized blubber, all the achievements you mention were accomplished when you had REAL PRESIDENTS and mostly before YOU were even born, not the cock-up records of the perpetual stream of idiots and sheer dumb arses that followed JFK apart from perhaps a couple. You`ve quoted history old man, going back to the 18th and 19th century. You make yourself look as stupid as your boring diatribe.
Reagan was such a prat, he never knew the name of the person standing next to him and so it goes on. A long successive stream of incompetent fools leading right up to that Tiny Turd from Texas you have today.
Now you are putting up an old bag of 60 years old and a black man. Try Mickey Mouse, at least he`d give the world a giggle instead of a headache.
Heaven forbid ! Take a long look at your current administration line up and when you`ve finished puking up, come back with some common sense.
The best American you have had in my living memory by a light year, was that ultra-brilliant messiah on earth George Patton. You can keep that yellow-bellied Custer and his shit cavalry, George never knew how to run backwards.
..Reagan won the cold war. His supply-side economic policies brought unprecidented employment, and prosperity to America for 27 years. He was, essentially, the president who transformed our economy from the 45 year old outdated model we were running on.
Nixon, transformed our relationship with China, and began the process of ending the cold war. Carter made a lasting peace between Israel and Egypt.
No, These Presidents had some real game, and some of us think JFK WAS the poser!
If you want to know something about America, ask an American, dickhead!
