The feeding frenzy here in the states is amazing. I can't figure who is more angry at McCain for picking a Washington outsider running mate, the Democrats or the press.
I have never seen the American media act out like this before. And for purely political reasons...Amazing.

Yeah, the mainstream media is way out of line, out of balance, and out of control when it comes to promoting their brand of politics. Fortunately they speak for themselves and usually not for the American public at large.
As for Palin, the more I'm learning about her the more impressed I am at the GOP's choice. Of the four big names on the ballot (Obamam, Biden, McCain, and Palin) she's the only one I think I would vote for be cause I actua

The Republican party that brought you Phyllis Schlafly, Dr. Laura, Clarence Thomas, Jimmy Swaggart, the moral majority, the brilliant handling of Hurricane Katrina and the War in Iraq. The Republican party who said that working moms were liberal, bad parents, selfish and anti-family, who said that liberal policies on sex ed were responsible for teen pregnancy, and the abortion rate; the Republican, family-friendly party that opposed the familiy medical leave act, opposed the equal rights amendment, opposed universal health care, eliminated overtime, and approved tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, is now the party that brings you Sarah Palin.
Now working moms are Republican, good parents and pregnant children are family-friendly.

Guiliani, Romney and Palin gave rousing speeches replete with misinformation.

Palin the REFORMER, had an Abramoff associate lobby for millions in earmarks from DC. Even McCain called her out on that. See the article from the LA TImes/Tribune from yesterday.

Mrs. Palin ran a 527 soft money fund for indicted senator Stevens.
She has taken money form the same oil compnay, Veco, that got Stevens indicted.

What a reformer.

I think that the speech was good, but the bar was very low... She obviously was not vetted properly, the media should question this. She is pro Creationism, pro abstinences only education, did take millions in earmarks (although she said she didn't last night, but this is public record, look it up), she was pro-bridge to nowhere, and finally went against it once it was already dead (again, look it up).

She sounded to me like another Karl Rove republican, she even attacked
community organizers - these are the people who stand up to politicians for those who can't!

She can read a teleprompter well, and the image specialist made her appear nice, but in the end, she is just more smoke and mirrors. I've had enough smoke in mirrors the last 8 years, McCain's poor judgment won't be redeemed by good speech writers.

If Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama, then she also has more experience than McCain (Huh??). So, who is the presidential nominee? McCain is 72 years old and are we really ready to hand the country over to a woman who has 1 1/2 years of governing a state with 683,000 residents and prior to that a city of 7,000? What's with the new Republicans and media (same people) that impeached Bill Clinton over a B/J and now a pregnant teen of our VP, who is pro-life, and touts abstinence 'Life Happens'? What this country needs is some common sense and honesty in it leadership. To get this country out of the mess its in will require severe cuts in federal spending increasing taxation to produce a balanced budget which cannot be done while we engage in a wasteful war in Iraq and practice pork barrel politics.

As far as abortion is concerned its a smoke screen to raise peoples emotions and I'm tired of the time and effort put into it. The real issues are the loss of peoples homes, jobs going abroad, a falling dollar and the fact that this country is bankrupt.

If the right have a problem with sex dont do it, die off, but remember its the method of procreation as ordained by God and theres nothing dirty about it. It must be obvious to most that abstinence only doesn't work and its surely better to educate people correctly than go at it half way.

In the meantime spend some time on coming up with how you will fix the real issues and lets hear no more about sex, abstinence, abortion and 'family values' whatever they are, as the main pressures on the families out there are financial.

Oh, yeah, that and if you dont vote for us we'll all end up in a gulag. Who would you rather have with you? That and, we'll all die. This election is a life or death decision, you know? And McCain has seen 'evil.' In Putin's eyes, no doubt. Changing the politics of fear, hate and vilification? An impressive speech by Mrs. Palin to her Base. This has wittingly or unwittingly confirmed the following:

Strong rhetoric remained short on specifics or any credible solution to America's problems of today and years to come.

Youthful and pleasant appearance with smiles lost its appeal with excessive sarcasm and cheapshots. She has a right to that as a politicians. Consequently, is that an approach for 'reform'/ Not even in dreams. She shortchanged her own potential message.

Her claims and wish fo rsympathetic view on her credibility via the terms defining her as 'Hockey Mom' and 'PTA memebr or leader' and grass-roots fighter in Alaska may be good fo rher. This i scompletely lost immediately after she ridiculed 'community organizer'. Guess what? By hating media, news and shying away from people or reality, she missed the point by following the speech-writer rhetoric that she herself practiced the skills of being an organizer in her community.

Mrs. Palin constantly reminded of G.W. Bush. A pretty face, telling what the crowd wants hear and going on and on with feeding frenzy may be natural behaviors in her base, but this is precisely what the 'establishment' is.

The closeness or coziness to oil and energy businesses does not make her a maverick even after establishing certain contracts or facilities in Alaska. That is the establishment. Remember in 2000 and 2004, those who claimed 'knowing something about the oil industry and energy' are the ones who escalated the energy crisis. Thus, Mrs. Palin may bring on, yet again, the realities of Bush.

McCain camp completely failed in convincing this independent voter to trust McCain-Palin or the RNC to look at them for credible change. They are just not tuned to the needs and urgency that America faces. Mrs. Palin's performance was a successful stage-craft, ensured by the Establishment. It encouraged and instilled confidence for me to look at Barack Obama and his plain talk, trustworthiness and enabled me to make a donation for the first time. I am sure than many independent voters, who think for themselves in the best interest of our nation will do what I did.

That was easily the most worthless speech I've ever seen in my life. If it were given by a man, everybody would be yawning today. What issues did she discuss? How many lies did she speak? Why is nobody interested in researching what she said and seeing if they can find any truth to it?

It's great that she wants to help kids with special needs, but come on, she'll have more time to advocate for children if she is not Vice President. It's wonderful to want to build jobs, but not if she counts 'going to war' as a great American industry. It's noble that she wants to fight the terrorists but not if she has such an unrealistic view of the current events that she thinks Senator Obama supports the terrorists.

She's a dillusional lunatic. That's what I learned about Palin last night. She has no wisdom or grasp of politics or current events and I am perplexed as to why she ever accepted the nomination or was asked to run in the first place.

Obama wants you to tell him your needs and then he will take care of them . . . while cutting the taxes for 95% of us. Wow, how does he intend to do that. In order to do that he will have to tax our employers out of the country and tax his friend Oprah to the point that she will have less then his magical $250k line.

Me, I don't need Obama to tuck me into bed. I want employers that can afford to compete here im America. I want Leaders that have proven that their they put others first and not themself ( Obama is just in his fourties and has two autobiographies already, talk of conceit). I think Mrs. Palin is a real person NOT a plastic politican who never says anything until he/she gets staff approval. And she is far more experienced than the out of touch individual who refuses to answer questions because they are 'above my pay grade.' SHE has made decisions which count and did not vote 'present' as Mr. Obama did. The people who are blindly following this man better wake up and see what his plans will do - higher gas prices (b/c he opposes any off shore drilling) and higher taxes for entitlement programs. And the taxes will affect everyone not just the ones whose incomes are taxed. How do they think businesses are going to keep going unless they pass their increased costs to the consumer? It shouldn’t be a surprise or a shook to anyone; this is what you expect from the same aged politics.

Senator Hilary Clinton didn’t come to Washington with Miss Congeniality on her resume; she came with proposals and an agenda. She didn’t take the elevator to the penthouse to crack the “glass ceiling”, she climbed each step with determination, pain, and a commitment to change American possibilities. She didn’t get a pat on the back promotion to the top, she got there in a fair fight that at times was grueling and difficult…and you know what, I think she kinda wanted it that way. She will not make it into our history books as the first, fast track, overnight, success into the finish, but she carved a remarkable legacy from the starting line to the last stretch. And for that, I will always be proud of her achievements.

Senator Mcain still does not “get it”. This is not a popularity contest for homecoming king and queen. This is a Presidential Election for the United States of America . This isn’t about winning the election; it is about changing the future of a Powerful Nation.

Palin as a conservative, effective mom? I thought effective moms helped keep their unwed daughters from getting knocked up. I thought that only liberals were sexually promiscuous, and that conservative, value oriented girls kept their virginity until they got married. I realize now that I had the wrong impression of 'conservatives'. Or maybe her big belly is God's gift to this young girl, and she really is still a virgin.

DISABLED CHILD HERO?????

Palin's acceptance of a disabled child is just
one more marketing tool for her. Parents who
have one disabled child and care for them day
by day, show them love, often giving up their
own careers and financial security are my heroes.
Palin doesn't have to deal with the anguish and

You are also right that Palin has chosen to have a job where she has no time for her family and can get away from her disabled child.

Whatever this incredibly ugly woman and Japanese sniper impersonator says into a microphone, is utterly irrelevant nonsense. The same applies to all the other 'speakers' like Obama and McCain etc., the principle actors in this debacle of stupidity.

It is all a sorry example of chosen prima-donna`s singing their insane and outrageous rubbish to millions of gullible lemmings who actually listen to it AND more astonishing, BELIEVE IT ! Some of the worst brain-washed zombies even write regular and continuous robot-like outbursts in these M&C pages under the optimistic illusion that they are intelligent.

Any potential leader can only be selected on their PAST RECORD AND ACHIEVEMNTS. There is NO other intelligent way. YOU CANNOT SELECT A LEADER ON PROMISES UNLESS ACCOUNTABILITY IS ABLE TO DISMISS THEM FOR FAILURE.

NOBODY can predict the future. These people can say and PROMISE whatever they like and fair enough. BUT unless they are held accountable to KEEP those promises if elected, then the entire exercise is no more than an elaborate and very expensive comic charade.

In nature, NO pack leader is CHOSEN. Such leaders have to fight their way to the top and maintain their position by strength and power. It is done on ability and nothing else.

When these leader-impersonators go around making all kinds of speeches, firstly look at their background - if they have not got an impressive one - dump them quick. Secondly, if they are elected on PROMISES, then unless the system makes them accountable and can dismiss them AT ANY TIME if those promises are not achieved, then all you have is a stupid rotten system and a disgrace to civilised behaviour.

McCain HAS an impressive and VERY extensive background, Obama has NONE !

McCain has supported Bush in almost every way. They even shared birthday cake on the day Katrina struck land. What a Maverick!! Remember when Bush finally made it to 'help' victims by handing out water, etc.? He was caught on camera telling someone to 'roll up' their sleeves because it made them look like they were working hard. Great leadership!

The republicans have had 8 years to get this country on track and have failed miserably. Democrats couldn't possibly do worse than Bush has. He's lead us into a useless war over oil (not Iraqi Freedom or WMD). He lied about his military record which happened to get ruined by rats or something (does ANYONE believe that?). We're up to our eyeballs in debt in this country and I don't think it's one bit funny. Our kids cannot afford this kind of leadership.

Would Obama be any better? Can't be any worse! If you like $4 dollar gas and think you're better off than 4 or even 8 years ago - vote republican. If not, you better rethink.

BTW--If you want the TRUTH about the war google 'energy non crisis' and take the time to watch the 75 minute video by Pastor Lindsey Williams. You'll see why we really went to war and will likely be at war with Iran. This isn't a democrat or republican problem, it's bigger than that!

love her she can lie like you.

'Obama is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word 'victory' except when he's talking about his own campaign.'

Lie: July 15, in a speech in Washington D.C. Obama twice used the word 'victory' in reference to Iraq.

He said 'true success in Iraq---victory in Iraq---will not take place in a surrender ceremony where an enemy lays down their arms---I want Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future, and to reach a political accomodation necessary for long-term stability. That's success. That's what's best for Iraq, that's what's best for America.'

There are other times he has used 'victory', but she likes to lie just like all neo-cons.

Palin: 'There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, its easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform---not even in the state senate.'

Lie: Obama worked with Senator Luger of Indiana to pass legislation that would expand efforts to intercept illegal shipment of weapons of mass destruction and to destroy conventional weapons stockpiles.

While a state senator in Illinois, he sponsered two contentious bills, one that studied racial profiling by police and another that ordered interrogations in potential death penalty cases to be recorded.

Another lie by a neo-con.

Palin: I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when the deal was struck, we began a nearly $40 Billion natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence. That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.'

Lie: This infrastructure she is talking about has not even been approved by the Federal regulators. To top that off, due to Palin's prodding the Alaska legislature farmed the work out to a Canadian firm (TransCanada), $500 million to the Canadians instead of Americans.

Another lie by a neo-con.

Palin: 'I told the Congress 'thanks, but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere.'

Lie: While serving as mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired Steven Silver, a former chief of staff for Senator Ted Stevens to lobby congress for earmarks. Wasilla received around $27 million in federal money, about as much as Boise Idaho. Boise has a population of around 200,000 compared to Wasilla's 10,000. Earmarked funds went to sewage improvements and improving roads connecting the town to a local ski resort.

As for the 'Bridge to Nowhere,' Palin initially supported using federal funds to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to Gravina Island which has 50 residents. (The Ted Stevens Bridge). It was not until the plan was ridiculed that she withdrew her support.

No wonder you neo-con idiots support her, she lies just like you do.

Senator John McCain graciously sent Barack Obama a letter congratulating him on his nomination and its historic significance. His message includes this revealing line: 'How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day.' Yes, of course, it was perfect, if you believe the convention serendipitously included the anniversary date of DR King's iconic American Dream speech.

It's more likely, it's too perfect and that McCain, the seasoned politician who survived the Bush campaigns, sees it for what it is: the 'perfect' piece of an orchestrated, ethically corrupt, marketing campaign. The fact that the convention dates included the anniversary of DR King's speech only gives further credence to the idea that the DNC picked its candidate early on and that much of what transpired during the primary and the convention was a sham.

Mourn the end of Roosevelt's Democratic Party. Its lamp was extinguished from within by once-trusted keepers of the flame, who plotted its demise. FDR's Party, the party of the people, is gone; it was the victim of a Chicago hit carried out brazenly on cable news for the entire nation to view. The neo-Dem mob used the lethal weapons of misogyny, ageism, race-baiting, and classism for the slaughter. The evil cabal of suspects include Dean, Brazile, Axelrod, Pelosi, and every other elitist party official who thumbed his/her nose at the people's vote. There are forces within this country that want to dilute or even dissipate our collective power, and unfortunately they stretch within the neo-Democratic Party.

The sadness that many of us have experienced this election is about much more than Hillary Clinton; it is about country, principles and beliefs. It is about the role of our leaders and their responsibility to citizens in a democracy. It is about the sanctity of our vote in a democratic society. Eighteen million Americans have been cheated of their presidential candidate's vision, knowledge and experience, and neo-Dem Party elitists have allowed their personal thirst for power to take precedence over the needs of the people they were elected to serve.

The neo-Dems have played Chicago-style politics, and therefore, we must react in kind. It must be this for that, tit for tat, or we will never reestablish our power as voters within that party. They must be reminded that actions have consequences.

Any child, who has ever gone toe to toe with a bully in a playground and won, understands the undeniable truth about the way Chicago politics is played. We have been civil. We have called, emailed, and written letters. We have politely protested. Civility has not worked. We must fight, or we are vanquished. They must feel our pain, or we have relinquished our place in the sun.

Obama hopes that the likable Biden will win him working class voters who he offended early on with his elitist San Francisco comments. It must not happen; the disenfranchisement must be remembered. I know I will remember in November.

Like the neo-Con Republicans, the neo-Dems cannot be trusted. We must elect a President who will ensure the checks and balances of power that are founders valued. A Democratic Congress with a Republican President will keep them all on their toes, because with that vote we will have nullified the elitists of both parties. We've done enough of the heavy lifting; let us put our national elected leaders on notice in a very public way.

I will remember, but who else will remember in November that it is time to take our country back? I will vote McCain, because there is no other viable option for our country. With McCain as POTUS and a Democratic Congress, the two branches can spend the next two years repeatedly checking each other if they cannot work together for the good of the country.

As a result of losing what was to be a 'sure thing' this year, the neo-Dems will be cast off (especially, Brazile, Dean, Axelrod, Pelosi, and their sycophants). Thus, the Clintons should be able to seize the leadership during the next Congressional election and reestablish FDR party principles with Hillary running in 2012.

Personally, I will have no problem voting for Senator John McCain; because I believe him to be an honorable man, and I yearn to respect my President again. McCain knows the pangs of war; he will be a good commander in chief. Kerry wanted McCain for his Vice-President in 2004, but McCain refused. Despite neo-Dem comments to the contrary, if Johnny Mac was good enough to lead then; he is good enough now. In addition, McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as VP will make a Republican win in November even sweeter revenge, since it will be a one-two punch and force some reflective 'we should have/could have' moments on Democrats.

For me, Senator John McCain has proven that he is the best candidate by his VP choice, because actions do speak louder than words. As others have pointed out, he put his dream of the presidency on the line, and he put his faith in a woman. The actions of the neo-Dems, on the other hand, prove that they are not progressive when it comes to women, since we have witnessed a huge disconnect between what they do and what they say.

For the sake of our country, for its children, and its children's children, remind the neo-Dems that the people's democratic vote must be respected. Many have fought to safeguard these voting rights for us. As I write there are soldiers in Iraq defending the right of that country's people to live in a democratic society, it is indefensible that a national political party has used fascist tactics to deny fellow citizens these rights in our own land, and it is disgraceful that party leaders who have acted as watch guards of democracy elsewhere ignored what happened here. Yet, the Democratic Party has done just that in joining with Obama’s ethically corrupt campaign to guarantee him victory.

I will remember in November, but will I be the only one? Will American voters, especially Clinton Democrats and Independents, remember? Or will some of us stay home or vote Obama out of some misplaced loyalty to the past?

Any Chicagoan knows the adage 'you gotta do what you gotta do.' In that mind frame, McCain’s mother gave sage advice for this election to those who are on the fence: 'Hold your nose, and vote McCain.'

Palin is a better man then Obama.Sep 5th, 2008 - 06:42:57

By DICK MORRIS

Sarah Palin does not simply represent an opportunity to appeal to women voters and to add a new, charismatic presence to the ticket. Her selection signals the rebirth of John McCain, the courageous, independent senator who seemed to have been anesthetized during the long primary process.

Beaten down psychologically - as the Vietnamese could never do - by the drubbing he took in South Carolina's Republican primary in 2000, he seemed to pull his punches in this campaign. The crusading maverick, the take-no-guff independent, seemed to have been left behind in the Senate Office Building as a different McCain took to the campaign trail in 2008. Conscious of the discipline and uniformity of the GOP primary electorate, he seemed to morph into what he never was in the Senate (but Barack Obama accuses him of having been, anyway) - a Bush clone.

But Palin is McCain's kind of governor. She took on the corrupt establishment of the Republican hierarchy in Alaska and defeated incumbent Gov. Frank Murkowski in a GOP primary. The Murkowski family and the family of Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens have run the state for decades. Frank served as senator and then gave it up to run for governor. And into the Senate seat slid his daughter Lisa Murkowski, whom Alaska voters dutifully elected. To give you a gauge of how hard it was for Sarah to beat Murkowski for governor in a Republican primary, Stevens has just won his primary for re-election even though he is under indictment!

But Palin uncovered Republican corruption in the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which she had been appointed to lead. She reported the violations of ethical regulations by her co-commissioner (who also happened to be the Republican Party state chairman). Barred by state law from going public with her charges, she quit and revealed her accusations. She was vindicated when her co-commissioner agreed to pay a $12,000 fine for breaking the state ethics law.

Then, in true McCain style, she took on the state attorney general over his corruption and forced him to resign. Finally, she challenged Gov. Murkowski himself in a primary and won 51 percent of the vote in a three-way contest. Since then, she has line-item-vetoed huge parts of the state budget that she found wasteful and has cleaned house from top to bottom.

Her appointment demonstrates the crucial flaw in the Democratic attack on McCain: the accusation that he is another George W. Bush. Bush chose Cheney. McCain chose Palin. That's emblematic of the difference between them.[...]

The entire edifice Obama and Biden built in the Denver convention hinges on the supposed similarity between Bush and McCain. Every speaker hewed to his suggested talking points in calling a McCain presidency a third Bush term. As proof, Obama cited the fact that McCain voted with Bush 90 percent of the time. But most Senate votes are unanimous! They praise high school sports teams or American heroes for their accomplishments or rename post offices or courthouses. It's likely Obama and McCain voted together most of the time, too.

Once McCain rebuts the supposed similarity between himself and the man he ran against in the bitter primaries of 2000, there is not a whole lot Obama can do to besmirch McCain's reputation.

Obama can't say anything not given to him...Sep 5th, 2008 - 06:49:49

Sarah Palin electrified the Republican convention Wednesday, all the while reading off a faulty teleprompter and an outdated draft, John McCain officials told FOX News on Thursday.

The Alaska governor overcame several glitches and technical problems to deliver her speech without getting flustered, impressing McCain and his staff and allowing them to breathe a sigh of relief.

Foremost of the obstacles, Palin’s teleprompter was not working properly. When she took the podium, the machine rolled so quickly, it often skipped the first line or two of every paragraph on screen. The operator said he had new equipment and wasn’t sure how it would work.

During one part of her speech, she couldn’t see the teleprompter because signs were blocking it. That was when she ad-libbed a line about the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull — “lipstick.”

The line was a hit with the audience.

We've had some pretty un-proud moments, but we've never hearded a whole ethnic group into machines to kill them, or invaded and conquered our neighbors into forced occupation, who now have the most envious postion of being next to newighbors who would run to their side in a heartbeat..and have. We dealt with slavery, something that still exists in the world today, conquered racial bias...as you can plainly see... and fastidiously pursued the rights of our citizens, and the citizens of other nations as well.

So, when you offer up your idea of an american embarassment to us..stick it up your ass. These two candidates, educated in the best schools in the world, and served in the most free, best government in the world would be an improvement to ANY other nations leadership on their worst day.
