U.S. court rejects rape case against James Brown
Jun 30, 2005, 11:34 GMT
Los Angeles - A judge in Chicago rejected a rape case brought by a former employee of U.S. musician James Brown, reported radio broadcaster KCBS on Wednesday.
The judge ruled that the 17-year-old allegation had reached the statute of limitations at the beginning of 2005.
The 48-year-old former Brown employee claimed that she had developed Graves Disease, an autoimmune sickness, as a later consequence of the violent incident, and was seeking a million dollars in damages.
Brown's manager called the allegation absurd.
The 72-year-old Brown, who recently advertised himself as the "Moses" of the music industry, still tours despite diabetes and a prostate operation. His hits included "Sex Machine" and "I Feel Good".
