Man with power saws attacks New York subway rider
Jul 7, 2006, 0:11 GMT
New York - A man wielding two portable power saws on Thursday attacked a passenger, causing panic in a New York subway station, reports said.
Police questioned the victim, who was taken to St. Luke Hospital in serious condition, but was expected to survive following surgery, the reports said.
The attacker dumped the saws and fled the station in the Upper West Side of Manhattan after injuring the unidentified man. News reports said the attacker apparently got the saws from a construction cart inside the subway station.
'They're very shook up,' said Saint Dorceus, a supervisor for the Metropolitican Transportation Authority, who was quoted by the news reports.
'They're very shook up because this is an incident that happened right in front of them,' Dorceus said. 'The guy grabbed their tools and went to work trying to kill people. And so it's traumatic.'
