At least 3 killed in warehouse explosion
Dec 6, 2006, 20:45 GMT
Washington - At least three people were killed and dozens more injured when an industrial warehouse exploded in a US midwestern city, officials said Wednesday.
A blast around 8 am at manufacturer Falk Corporation's warehouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was reportedly caused by an exploding propane tank, the Journal Sentinel newspaper reported.
Broadcast images showed the charred remains of the levelled warehouse.
Police chief Nan Hegarty said more than 50 officers responded to the incident and an investigative unit was now examining the scene.
'This appears to be a tragic, accidental situation,' she said during a televised press conference, adding there was no evidence of a crime or terrorism.
Falk Corporation produces power transmissions.
