Washington - Former US president George Bush underwent hip replacement surgery and was resting comfortably, the Mayo Clinic said Thursday.
The surgery, which took place Wednesday, went well, the clinic in Rochester, Minnesota said on its website.
Bush, 80, is the father of the current president. His surgery came two days after he delivered a eulogy Tuesday in Washington at the state funeral of former president Gerald Ford, who died December 26 at the age of 93.
