Jan 6, 2007, 11:06 GMT
Washington - Thousands of cattle have died in heavy snow storms across Kansas and Colorado, news reports said Friday.
In Colorado, about 3,500 cattle - about 5 per cent of the total herd in six counties - have died from the cold and lack of access to food and water, KKTV television reported.
In Kansas, 1,000 cattle have died in Kansas, the daily newspaper Kansas City Star reported. Governor Kathleen Sebelius said she feared the number could climb 'dramatically.'
Sixty-thousand households are without electricity in Kansas, The Wichita Eagle reported.
