Bush to announce Iraq plan Wednesday

Jan 8, 2007, 16:12 GMT

Washington - US President George W Bush will announce his revised strategy for Iraq in a speech on Wednesday, the White House said Monday, according to CNN.

The highly anticipated speech will take place at 9 pm (0200 GMT Thursday) during which Bush is expected to disclose plans to increase the US presence in Iraq by 20,000 soldiers.

Bush has been under increasing pressure to change course in Iraq since the Democrats defeated his Republican Party in November congressional elections.

Who are these extra troops going to target, Sunnis, what will be the response of Saudi Arabia a Sunni country, I can't see them standing by while they are slaughtered the least they will do is turn a blind eye to insurgents comming across to help the Sunnies, The Shia faction have a huge following and they don't like the occupation any more than the Sunnies, target them and you have got problems with Iranian Shias, the originators of suicide bombers, I can see a lot more body bags arriving in the US. Not a pretty dilemma to be in.
I firmly beleive that America should pull out and let the Shia and Sunnies work it out, sure there will be a hell of a bang but they won't be shooting Americans. It is not in the interest Of Iran are the broader Middle East to see a break up of Iraq, they have as much to loose as anybody if things spiral out of control so they will put a cap on things, America (right or wrong) is seen as the problem,The USA would in my veiw be in a win win situation, Iran could be controlled whilst doing the job for Uncle Sam.
There would be no problems about oil they would have to sell it regardless, for their own survival.
