Ban to meet Bush next week at White House
Jan 12, 2007, 18:14 GMT
New York - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will meet with US President George Bush Tuesday for wide ranging discussions that include reform at the United Nations, the White House and the United Nations said Friday.
The meeting on Tuesday will be the first for Ban since he assumed UN leadership on January 1. He had met with Bush and high-ranking US officials last year as he prepared to take over the UN post.
Bush and Ban will also discuss human rights and preserving international peace and security, the White House said.
Spokesperson Michelle Montas said Ban will also meet with Congressional leaders while in Washington.
The United States is the host country for the UN headquarters in New York and leaders on both sides usually hold regular meetings.
