FBI investigating threats against Goldman Sachs

Jul 6, 2007, 17:35 GMT

Washington - US authorities were investigating a threat against global investment bank Goldman Sachs on Friday after handwritten threats were mailed to newspapers across the country.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, postal inspectors and the Joint Terrorism Task Force were investigating the incident, Bloomberg financial news reported.

The threats reportedly said: 'Hundreds will die. We are inside. You cannot stop us.' They were signed with the initials AQUSA.

Goldman Sachs said in a statment that law enforcement authorities did not believe the threats were credible, but stressed that they were taking the situation seriously.

'We have a broad range of security measures in place to counter all likely threats and we're monitoring the situation closely,' Goldman Sachs spokesman Michael DuVally said.

Goldman Sachs has offices in 46 cities and about 28,000 employees.

since there were no demands the threats are probably not credible. But keep in mind Goldman-Sachs was housed in the World Trade Center and lost a number of employees on 9/11.
