While I of course feel sympathy for the victims families; I cant help but wonder that since this has happened in the US, how long it is before:
a) Someone sues someone over this; and
b) A telemovie is made about this event.

Get this :

'It wasn't known Wednesday night why or how the bridge collapsed, but Minnesota and Minneapolis officials said the likely cause was 'structural failure.''

Wow. I feel better now that I know that such geniuses are on the case. I was afraid someone would say something foolish like : 'Nobody COMPETENT ever bothered to check the structure for damage or degradation', or 'Too much money went into the contractor's pocket, so the damn thing wasn't ever up to par'.

But now we learn that it was 'structural failure' that did it. How about that? Will wonders ever cease?

Geez, Wow and Boy, Howdy!

More guff : 'The Homeland Security Department also said the collapse did not appear to be terrorism-related.'

It means that incompetence and graft CAN achieve results comparable to terrorist acts. There is NO REASON AT ALL why this kind of thing should happen. We pay our taxes just so that someone should be there to prevent that kind of disaster. This wasn't a typhoon! This wasn't Katrina! This was gross NEGLECT!

So why can't we line up all those shady contractors, dirty little city officials and diseased politicos, and just mow them down?

Typical american response - someone has done something wrong, so lets shoot them. Gun culture has eaten their brains

It's a sad enough story, with the death of perfectly normal peoples, but for officials to try and sensationalise it a little more by using terrorism in the same sentence is .... rather annoying (I like to have sworn a lot), because it makes me angry that these people try to foster fear and worry, and then make you think that it okay it wasn't that scary thing at all, it was only an accident. WTF? It was a horrid thing, and it's horrid all by itself. Those poor people belittled by an arse!

Grrrr!

Wow, did you see how close that school bus came to dropping in the drink too? Those 60 kids were lucky, as, I guess, were all the others that had very close calls.

Erm, is it bad to want to see video of the event?
