Look.. There are gays and lots of them. But this guy... holier than thou, leading the sleez throwing on clinton... just another religious right republican with his wrinkled ass showing as he drops his pants then blames cops and media-- give me break.
The problem here is not what he did, but his continuing hypocrisy in denying it. His own party is running away from him, seeing it as a stain that might rub off.
Great line from Jay Leno - the guy has 3rd restless leg syndrome.
I can't figure out what all the fuss is about concerning Senator Craig and the 'men's room escapade'? Remember how President Clinton fornicated in the oval office? And he remained in office and now he's some kind of 'flaming hero'. Where's the moral justice?
The opening of this article talks about parents excersicing caution with their children and the news coverage. Why? The tide of filth and inuendo that comes from our television is such that it makes me wonder: What was first, the faulty senator or the TV programmes that depict his behavior? I am glad the senator is having to face the penalty for his actions, but for the parents trying to protect their kids...just reach for the power cord and yank yourself a bit of peaceful conscience.
Both men should take lie detector tests.
One question to the senator: 'Are you gay?'
One question to the arresting officer: 'Do you hate gays?'
If it is found that the senator is gay, out he goes for lying to the public that he is not gay.
The news said that the arresting officer had arrested dozen of gays at the airport, he had experience and it's obvious that he's not a gay. It's 99.97% chance for the arresting officer to be anti-gay.
This case is about an anti-gay who had the power to put a gay away.
Anti-gay people will do that with any chance they got.
This isn't about cops putting gays away. This about a total hypocrite getting busted big time. These 'upstanding' and 'moral' elected officials who constantly preach their right-wing, 'moral majority' agendas are lying sacks of crap. That is what disgusts me.
This case is not about homosexuality or lewd behavior in a public bathroom. This case is about a self-hating gay politician who lied to everyone about who he was, and tried to prove his heterosexuality by squelching the rights of other gay people braver than he, brave enough to be honest about who they are. No doubt he is a selfish coward who thought he could have it both ways but deny the same freedom to others. But we need to continue to consider how our society has created an environment where gay people would they have no choice but to lie in order to achieve success, political or otherwise. I am in no way letting him off the hook, but I do believe our society is partially to blame.
Per your - I can't figure out what all the fuss is about concerning Senator Craig and the 'men's room escapade'? Remember how President Clinton fornicated in the oval office.
There's a big difference between fellatio and fornication; not that either is apropos for the Oval Office. Screwing the American people for the past 7 years seems to be OK, however. Craig's problem is coming from the GOP incumbents, who keep seeing these things make news from elected officials who make a point of despising others who do the same thing. We call that 'hypocrisy'. The public really does not care about this kind of behavior, as at this point it's seen as a repeat performance. If a child were involved, it would be another story. Come to think of it, how about Foley? Clinton was bad taste amongst consenting adults, and was likeable to begin with. Craig comes off as an itinerant preacher caught with his pants down.
It's a simple known fact that 97.612% of republicans are a bunch of gays! That proves it right there!
I have a somewhat different view on 'toilet-gate'.
First, the senator has a 1/50th share control of the US government and all its functions (because he is 1 senator in 50 and controls ALL the 'money'.)
Second, he is mentally incompetent to seek sex in a public bath room with some who most likely has AIDS.
To me, the guy is to stupid and/or deranged to be allowed to run around loose.
His behavior is that of 25 cent street whore working the slums for a living.
As for his wife, I hope she hangs his 'manhood' on the wall!
the police officer should be investigated for anti-gay behavior,
the senator should be censured for whatever reasons appropriate,
the liberal gays need to show there....never mind thay don't have it..
i wish the democrats had the balls to censure even one of there party members for illegal behavior.
Could it be possible that the old man is telling the truth?
I am not American. I only wonder at the discrepency in the US society: How come that they legalize gay marraiges and when it comes to their statesmen practicing similar things, they protest and criminalize it? Could anyone explain this to me?
We already know ALL republicans are gay and ALL republicans lie. Where's the story?
But seriously, so what? It wouldn't be news if he would just admit he screwed up and be done with it. Same happened with Clinton and Monica. Just cop to it and take the wind out of the sails. It blows over in days not weeks.
I'm a little confused here. I'm from Australia and over here, to the best of my knowledge, one has to be actually fornicating, sucking, licking, groping, propositioning etc., etc., etc., to be labeled (and possibly charged, depending on where one is doing the above) as gay, bi-sexual or whatever.
Touching another's foot in the next cubicle? Wouldn't the cop's foot have to being somewhat closer than in his side of his cubicle to do that, unless the perp was acrobatic enough to reach right under and into the next cubicle.
One would have to be careful where one put his feet whilst standing on a crowded bus or train I think.
Now that the cocksucker is resigning from the Senate, he and his wife will probably open a day-care center for home-alone Conservative children.
he probably caught homosexuality off the toilet seat.
But the rightwing have preachers who can cure it.
So he will be back to work in a few weeks right.
he called it 'an unsavory incident'.
Was that because he did not get to taste salt?
To GOP: Thanks for the Leno quote! That's pretty good.
In reference to the article's headlines, the reason this is being plastered all over the media is purely Democratic political propaganda. The Democrats pretty much have the American media in their pockets. If this had been a Democratic Senator in question, we would hardly be hearing a fraction of the amount of the coverage this has been getting.
The Republicans are equally as low when it comes to this kind of smearing. They just don't own the media like the Democrats do.
But either way, Sen. Craig deserves to go. Judging from the extremely lame excuses he's been providing, I think he is as guilty as can be. If he can't even keep his own personal life in order, he has no business trying to keep the country in order. How fitting that his career should go down the toliet from a toliet.
And as for the anti-gay comments, there is absolutely nothing anti-gay about officer's conduct. His department has to respond to the complaints by both the Airport and the general public that uses it. That type of behavior, as well as advances and activities between members of opposite sexes, simply does not belong in a public washroom inside a public access building. I know I sure wouldn't want my little boy to walk in on something like that.
'Remember how President Clinton fornicated in the oval office? And he remained in office and now he's some kind of 'flaming hero'. Where's the moral justice?'
Oh My God! People are fornicating in the Whitehouse? I'm totally shocked! We don't elect Presidents so they can have s..e..x in the Whitehouse.
Oh...excuse me, I got the President confused with a Catholic priest.
Why are the police wasting time and resources trolling for gays? Don't they have anything better to do like shooting unarmed black people and busting teens for smoking a joint?
The greater probability is that ineluctably former Senator Craig is not Gay, but is in fact some variety of Straight recently found involved in societal-determined weird behaviors, and as so deemed are found sited somewhere along the yet unapproved spectrum of human sexual conduct. As well, this event, taken together with acts reported of similar nature, also make a mockery of the present simpleminded and unscientific assignment, mostly foisted on a credulous polity by our pandering politicians and those variously engaged in the God Business, of all sexual orientation to but two spheres: Straight or Gay. I say “probability” with respect to Craig’s true sexual nature because almost all studies on the subject of perverts and their perversions, such as child molestation, even if involving same-sex predators and innocents, have irrefutably demonstrated that the perpetrators are Straights and not remotely Gay, 99% of the time. So, in my opinion, it is questionable and baseless reasoning to leap to the immediate conclusion, as most of the media and the bloggers here too have done, that Craig is homosexual -- or more correctly expressed: a homosexualist. Those who know or have acknowledged here that they themselves are Gay will fully understand and agree, I believe, with my assertions. As to the assertions that the Hillbillery’s misbehaviors and certain felonies are mitigated by having has sex between “consenting adults,” recall, for one, that Dear Monica was an “intern” and barely “adult,” as well as the fact that stored in the Congressional Archives, under lock and key and guard, are the statements provided before confidential sessions of the House Committee, which eventually and appropriately voted to have the HillBillery impeached by the full House, by more than a dozen women who bravely came forward to tell of their rapes by that pervert. And where is the “outrage,” to quote Dole? That outcry was persistently tamped-down, with the tarnishing complicity and empathy of the so-called press, by the distaff side of the HillBillaries, who personally orchestrated the “Nuts and Sluts” campaign run out of the White House basement. And she has several sealed indictments out there for obstruction of justice, lying to a grand jury and tampering with evidence, who with the help of an embarrassingly fawning press, sought to ruin the reputations of each of these courageous women who dared tell the truth about the Rapist and Felon in Chief. Barney Frank’s -- he with the boyfriend running a prostitution ring out of this Senator’s apartment with his acquiescence -- sister was then a key staff member in the “Sluts and Nuts” campaign and the prior and succeeding cover-ups. One has to think the former, indicted and convicted Democrat governor of Louisiana had it right when he opined, “I will remain in office unless either a dead underage girl or a live boy is found in my bed.” Think of the ensuing titillation!
Larry Craig is not at fault for being a homosexual, but for being a hypocrite.
It's curious to note that if Larry Craig would have denied the allegation and not have initially admitted guilt, there would still be reason to consider him a hypocrite. Apparently, he is a hypocrite for admitting guilt while being outwardly anti-gay, and would also be a hypocrite for denying guilt and not being honest.
Who couldnt possibly pass such a test?
Public judgment here points the larger social hypocracy, which gets us to the flip side conundrum.
The cop is also a hypocrite.
If the cop was targeting the senator only because he was a senator, then the hypocracy of intent is clear. If he was actually trying to eradicate lude behavior, wasnt he engaging in the same?
The focus should not be on Larry Craig as much as how disfunctional our society has become. The focus should be on how the US is becoming the number one police state. At least, its finally biting back the asses that have created it.
I found this somewhat amusing. The article says the media pursues both parties equally? List all the scandals the media is covering hour after hour after hour for the last five years and how many of those involve Democrats?
The article also makes a great point. Republicans involved in scandals resign, Democrats involved in scandals get re-elected! Does anyone thing a Republic with thousands of dollars in FBI sting money in his freezer would be able to get re-elected?
What did this senator in the bathroom do that was so over the top, how different then lets say Barney Franks or Gary Studd, both of whom not only did not resign, but went on to get re-elected several times.
As to media bias lets look at the current scandal, Norman Hsu. It seems the media likes to show how Hillary and company donated the money to charity. Hillary returned $23,000. Do you think for a moment that this Hsu man only donated $23,000 to her campaign? If so then why is he such a major player? Do you really think someone who donates a $23,000 is going to be picked to host one of her fund raising events? Hsu was scheduled too!
And if you think a mail carrier from San Francisco had $250,000 to donate to the Democrats, I have a nice bridge to sell you! Normally the media would 'follow the money' trail. I think in this case they won't. They do not want to know where it leads!
To really understand the whole Larry Craig saga, you have to read the Idaho Statesman's five month investigation cited in this article 'Men's room arrest reopens questions about Sen. Larry Craig.' The Statesman interviewed Craig and his wife just one month prior to the arrest, playing for them a recording of a man who claimed to have had oral sex with Craig in the men's room of Union Station in D.C. Craig denied the claim, saying he's not gay and then appologized to his wife , who was close to tears. see: www.idahostatesman.com/larrycraig/story/143801.html
My God ,Friend, from always the man demonstrates a duality in his(its) behavior, it is the human essence, sometimes we forget that we are mammalian and irrational. Quastdog, this duality has not happened to you in your own(proper) life?
