The problem here is not what he did, but his continuing hypocrisy in denying it. His own party is running away from him, seeing it as a stain that might rub off.
Great line from Jay Leno - the guy has 3rd restless leg syndrome.
I can't figure out what all the fuss is about concerning Senator Craig and the 'men's room escapade'? Remember how President Clinton fornicated in the oval office? And he remained in office and now he's some kind of 'flaming hero'. Where's the moral justice?
The opening of this article talks about parents excersicing caution with their children and the news coverage. Why? The tide of filth and inuendo that comes from our television is such that it makes me wonder: What was first, the faulty senator or the TV programmes that depict his behavior? I am glad the senator is having to face the penalty for his actions, but for the parents trying to protect their kids...just reach for the power cord and yank yourself a bit of peaceful conscience.
Both men should take lie detector tests.
One question to the senator: 'Are you gay?'
One question to the arresting officer: 'Do you hate gays?'
If it is found that the senator is gay, out he goes for lying to the public that he is not gay.
The news said that the arresting officer had arrested dozen of gays at the airport, he had experience and it's obvious that he's not a gay. It's 99.97% chance for the arresting officer to be anti-gay.
This case is about an anti-gay who had the power to put a gay away.
Anti-gay people will do that with any chance they got.
This isn't about cops putting gays away. This about a total hypocrite getting busted big time. These 'upstanding' and 'moral' elected officials who constantly preach their right-wing, 'moral majority' agendas are lying sacks of crap. That is what disgusts me.
This case is not about homosexuality or lewd behavior in a public bathroom. This case is about a self-hating gay politician who lied to everyone about who he was, and tried to prove his heterosexuality by squelching the rights of other gay people braver than he, brave enough to be honest about who they are. No doubt he is a selfish coward who thought he could have it both ways but deny the same freedom to others. But we need to continue to consider how our society has created an environment where gay people would they have no choice but to lie in order to achieve success, political or otherwise. I am in no way letting him off the hook, but I do believe our society is partially to blame.
Per your - I can't figure out what all the fuss is about concerning Senator Craig and the 'men's room escapade'? Remember how President Clinton fornicated in the oval office.
There's a big difference between fellatio and fornication; not that either is apropos for the Oval Office. Screwing the American people for the past 7 years seems to be OK, however. Craig's problem is coming from the GOP incumbents, who keep seeing these things make news from elected officials who make a point of despising others who do the same thing. We call that 'hypocrisy'. The public really does not care about this kind of behavior, as at this point it's seen as a repeat performance. If a child were involved, it would be another story. Come to think of it, how about Foley? Clinton was bad taste amongst consenting adults, and was likeable to begin with. Craig comes off as an itinerant preacher caught with his pants down.
It's a simple known fact that 97.612% of republicans are a bunch of gays! That proves it right there!
I have a somewhat different view on 'toilet-gate'.
First, the senator has a 1/50th share control of the US government and all its functions (because he is 1 senator in 50 and controls ALL the 'money'.)
Second, he is mentally incompetent to seek sex in a public bath room with some who most likely has AIDS.
To me, the guy is to stupid and/or deranged to be allowed to run around loose.
His behavior is that of 25 cent street whore working the slums for a living.
As for his wife, I hope she hangs his 'manhood' on the wall!
the police officer should be investigated for anti-gay behavior,
the senator should be censured for whatever reasons appropriate,
the liberal gays need to show there....never mind thay don't have it..
i wish the democrats had the balls to censure even one of there party members for illegal behavior.
Could it be possible that the old man is telling the truth?
I am not American. I only wonder at the discrepency in the US society: How come that they legalize gay marraiges and when it comes to their statesmen practicing similar things, they protest and criminalize it? Could anyone explain this to me?
We already know ALL republicans are gay and ALL republicans lie. Where's the story?
But seriously, so what? It wouldn't be news if he would just admit he screwed up and be done with it. Same happened with Clinton and Monica. Just cop to it and take the wind out of the sails. It blows over in days not weeks.
I'm a little confused here. I'm from Australia and over here, to the best of my knowledge, one has to be actually fornicating, sucking, licking, groping, propositioning etc., etc., etc., to be labeled (and possibly charged, depending on where one is doing the above) as gay, bi-sexual or whatever.
Touching another's foot in the next cubicle? Wouldn't the cop's foot have to being somewhat closer than in his side of his cubicle to do that, unless the perp was acrobatic enough to reach right under and into the next cubicle.
One would have to be careful where one put his feet whilst standing on a crowded bus or train I think.
Now that the cocksucker is resigning from the Senate, he and his wife will probably open a day-care center for home-alone Conservative children.
he probably caught homosexuality off the toilet seat.
But the rightwing have preachers who can cure it.
So he will be back to work in a few weeks right.
he called it 'an unsavory incident'.
Was that because he did not get to taste salt?
To GOP: Thanks for the Leno quote! That's pretty good.
In reference to the article's headlines, the reason this is being plastered all over the media is purely Democratic political propaganda. The Democrats pretty much have the American media in their pockets. If this had been a Democratic Senator in question, we would hardly be hearing a fraction of the amount of the coverage this has been getting.
The Republicans are equally as low when it comes to this kind of smearing. They just don't own the media like the Democrats do.
But either way, Sen. Craig deserves to go. Judging from the extremely lame excuses he's been providing, I think he is as guilty as can be. If he can't even keep his own personal life in order, he has no business trying to keep the country in order. How fitting that his career should go down the toliet from a toliet.
And as for the anti-gay comments, there is absolutely nothing anti-gay about officer's conduct. His department has to respond to the complaints by both the Airport and the general public that uses it. That type of behavior, as well as advances and activities between members of opposite sexes, simply does not belong in a public washroom inside a public access building. I know I sure wouldn't want my little boy to walk in on something like that.
