House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared on ABC's morning TV show, "The View."

One of the show's moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, along  with former news anchor Barbara Walters started verbally flirting with the speaker's husband, Paul, who was seated in the front row.

"You wanna take a look at Nancy Pelosi's handsome husband?" Walters asked the audience.

The show's hosts asked him how long he and Madame Speaker have been married.

"Forty-four years," Mr. Pelosi managed.

Whoopi introduced Speaker Pelosi, who she noted is the first woman speaker of the House who, managed to raise five children.

But Walters stayed on Mr. Pelosi, and turned to Nancy Pelosi and said she has heard Whoopi say before that she'd "do Paul Newman."

"And I think she'd like to do your husband as well," Walters deadpanned.

Whoopi picked up the ball and ran.

Whoopi acknowledged her interest in Mr. Pelosi,  but she might take his wife while she's at it. "I would do her as well. But we should wait on that because you're still in office, I don't want to cause a problem."

A mortified  Speaker Pelosi remained silent, and her press office later also was mum on the comments made by Goldberg.

Sara M.. your kidding right? Credibility?!?!?! Are you nuts? It's a morning gabfest! This is not a news program! Get over yourself... The girls were just trying to have a little fun and it actually makes a lot of peoples days better to laugh. Its was funny. Period.

Maybe you should try it sometime.

I was disappointed and embarrassed for all of them. I would have been more interested in learning more about Speaker Pelosi being the mom of 5 children and being successful in politics.

Adam seems to like women's shows???? And heaven forbid that it would have any intelligence mingled in with the craziness! If the show is supposed to be all fun and games, why have serious guests in the first place!

Nothing but trashy statements. Two wrongs never make it right.Pull the show from the air.Reduce their pay and fire all who joined in on the bullying session. No accountability, no backbone no future performances. Send them packing.

Seriously, an apology and show cancellation is needed. Enough is enough with these self-centered personalities.

I agree with Roger and Jill, and, when the Congresswoman just sat there and appeared to participate, she lost all respect I had for her. She lost a once in a lifetime opportunity to really make a difference. If she would have simply stated the comments were not appropriate, stood up, and walked off the set. Wondering if this will be debated on the floor of our great Congress.
