President Bush sends two turkeys to Disney World

US President George W. Bush (L) prepares to pardon May, the National Turkey, as Ryan Downes places it on a table in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, D.C. USA on 20 November 2007. Two turkeys were spared the knife and will be heading to Disney World to live out their fowl days.
President Bush pardoned the two birds on Tuesday in the annual tradition that dates back to the Truman administration.

Since President Harry Truman, the tradition of pardoning the birds has preceded Thanksgiving. The event has been updated in recent years to include a bird-naming contest, with votes cast on the White House Web site. Other name nominees this year were Wing and Prayer, Jake and Tom and Wish and Bone.

In the Rose Garden ceremony, Bush said the participants in a White House Web poll had picked "May" and "Flower" as the turkeys' names.

"They're certainly better than the names the vice president suggested -- which is 'Lunch' and 'Dinner," Bush said.

CNN reported that President Bush also offered a message of thanks and charity, and took time to give recognition to members of the military and their families.

The two turkeys hail from Indiana and each weighs about 45 pounds. They'll be spared and flown to Disney World in Florida to live in the Magic Kingdom serving as honorary grand marshals in the Thanksgiving Day parade there.
"May they live the rest of their lives in blissful gobbling, and may all Americans enjoy a holiday full of love and peace. God bless you all," Bush said.

someone needs to pardon bush.
permantally
Instead of sending turkeys to Disney World ( his super hero is Goofy, who he tries to emulate and does so with great success ) little Georgie Porgie the Texas Turd should have sent them to Billy the Willy ( suck my dick ) Clinton. He loves a gobble - gobble.
The real reason Bush gave away the turkeys is that if he ate them, it would be an act of cannibalism. It is also in keeping with his philosophy of pardoning turkeys. Particularly republican, neocon turkeys.
Yes I agree send Bush and Cheney to Disney. They could probably be the new high light of the park. Dumb and even Dumber.
He managed to name two turkeys at the same time.
This is a real team effort - Cheney shoots them; or Bush pardons them. There are many convicts in Texas on death row who are jealous.
This was the mother of all photo-ops - three turkeys. Bush was the one without the feathers.
I wonder how many of the kidlets in the shot have parents serving in Iraq?
How ironic, he chooses to pardon 2 turkeys while the 2 border patrol guards who were trying to protect this country by doing their jobs are still in prison.
thats our bush baby for you.
Bush and Cheney are on the way to DisneyWorld!!
Let's have the previous folks who posed negative comments, spend a couple of hours a week visting our wounded soldiers this holiday season and THANK THEM for giving them the freedom of speech, the freedom blame everything on two individuals dedicating to preserving those same freedoms. Remember, as Americans we need to stop his hate and learn to build unity!
