Rice urging Kenyan leaders to quell violence
Jan 2, 2008, 20:18 GMT
Washington - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was to telephone Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday to urge him to work with the political opposition to end the violence that has swept the country since the disputed December 27 election.
Rice has already spoke with Raila Odinga, who was defeated by Kibaki in the election marred by accusations of fraud. More than 300 people have died in violence since Kibaki was declared the winner.
'It's important for the Kenyan people and for their democracy to work within the confines of the law and constitution to find a political way forward and, most importantly, to put an end to the violence,' US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.
More than 100,000 people have fled their homes during the outbreak of the ethnic violence. A Kenyan government spokesman has accused Odinga of sparking 'ethnic cleansing' while Odinga has charged the Kibaki administration is guilty of 'genocide.'
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said the burning of a church on Tuesday where dozens of people had sought refuge 'was absolutely tragic.' Thirty five people died in the blaze.
'What happened there yesterday was absolutely tragic,' Perino said.

I can picture Rice talking to this guy: 'Make nice or we'll bomb the crap out of you.'
Rice should spend her time trying to find a boyfriend and stop meddling in the affairs of foreign and sovereign countries. What happens internally in Kenya is no business of the U.S.
The violence generated by gangs in the U.S. should be a greater priority for those who were chosen to represent us. Nevertheless, a genuine concern for others ruining their own civilization is an appropriate concern of ours, or why would we have joined the United Nations?
ONLY UNCARING NATIONS DON'T GIVE A DAMN.
The U.S. created the U.N. as a tool to spread it's quest for world domination. The damn place should be in Europe someplace and the U.S. shouldn't be a member. If I came for outer space I wouldn't deal with the U.N. or the U.S. If I wanted something or wanted to trade beads and such I would deal directly with the natives of whereever I landed my spaceship and nobody should stop me. Probably the most important U.S. president said, concerning foreign relation, once said, and he should have ordered it be so:
'The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations is, in
extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political
connections as possible. It is our true policy to steer clear of
permanent alliances, with any portion of the foreign world'. --George Washington

...knock yourself out...
america needs more hatered against his fellow man.
com'on america lets start doing what geo.w. bush taught us to do.
hate hate and more hate. i do you can too.
We are fighting against hatred every day, or we are submitting to it for a lifetime. Diplomacy should always confront hatred wherever it rears its terroristic philosophy.
