(M&C) - Parts of Texas still face a significant wildfire threat despite rising humidity the National Weather Service has said.
The Service has predicted that the most severe threat will occur from El Paso to Lubbock, and in north-central Texas, reports the Associated Press.
Earlier in the week, Texan firefighters dealt with gusty winds which caused the evacuation of homes in Tarrant, Wise, Parker, Burnet, Nolan and Callahan counties as the fires destroyed 2,000 acres including over twenty buildings.
The emergency has prompted Governor Rick Perry to raise the level of the state's Emergency Operations Center to Level one -- the highest level.
In a statement released by the Governor's office a spokesperson said: "We take the threat of wildfires very seriously."
The National Weather Service said the extreme conditions will take in parts of South Texas tomorrow before the threat will be greatest in West Texas by the end of the week.
