Clinton's deputy campaign chair steps down

Feb 13, 2008, 2:35 GMT

Washington - After her campaign manager stepped down just days ago, presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton's deputy campaign manager has also thrown in the towel, according to media reports Tuesday.

Clinton on Tuesday lost her sixth successive primary state lost to chief rival Barack Obama, who swept the Democratic vote in Virginia, and was lagging behind in the two other votes Tuesday evening - the federal city of District of Columbua and Maryland.

The official, Mike Henry, informed campaign workers in an e-mail about his expected resignation, which he said would clean the slate for Clinton's new campaign manager, Maggie Williams, who took over in a major shake-up on Sunday.

'Our campaign needs to move quickly to build a new leadership team, support them and their decisions and make the necessary adjustments to achieve the winning outcome for which we have all worked so hard for over a year now,' Henry wrote in the e-mail that was published by Politico.com.

The dem machine thought they could just anoint her the candidate. Now, they have a real sticky situation.

The real play to watch are the superdelegates. If they greenlight the one rejected by the regular delegates, what an issue THAT will be!

Think of the new neocons created by this!
