White House aide resigns over plagiarism charges
Mar 1, 2008, 1:04 GMT
Washington - A White House aide resigned Friday after it emerged that he had plagiarized parts of at least 20 articles written for a local newspaper over the last eight years.
Tim Goeglein, a special assistant to President George W Bush who helped in establishing faith-based programmes and getting conservative judicial appointments confirmed, wrote a number of guest columns since 2000 for the News-Sentinel, a paper in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.
The plagiarism allegations only emerged about a column published Thursday, parts of which another columnist found had been taken from a story in the Dartmouth Review. The News-Sentinel Friday said an internal review had since discovered at least 20 instances of plagiarism in 38 columns written between 2000 and 2008.
'The president was disappointed to learn of the matter, and he was saddened for Tim and his family,' White House press secretary Dana Perino said in a statement. 'President Bush accepted Tims resignation today.'
News Sentinel Editor Kerry Hubbartt apologized to the paper's readers and said they would no longer publish Goeglein's columns.

Tim Goeglein was an assistant to Karl Rove for years, so what's the big surprise here. And you gotta love the fact that this guy was in charge of Bush's faith based initiative and a White House liaison to influential Christan conservatives.
Just another scum-ball out of an administration full of them. 10 months left of these religious hypocrites.
think it's time to forget about this site.
seems it's all about the guy called sp4...so long .

Lots of that plagiarism going around... and when the only thing that someone has shown that they can do well is give speeches it is disturbing when the speeches were someone else's.
...in that I never really wrote anything about this article...as it does not deserve comment.
So who's the f--khead who seems to be anticipating my next post? Are some of you libnazis so insecure that a single persons point of view is THAT threatening?
God, are you actually THAT big of a pussie?
This guy can now run for president, as long as he's a democrat!
..this site was just as boring before I came along...
Maybe he'll resign too.
just keeps getting better and better. Everybody is getting their ass kicked and there is not one candidate with a spark of presidential material in their past, present or future.....what a gas.
Hey SP4:
'..this site was just as boring before I came along...'
But we never had a neo-con right wing sputter to make fun of before you. You make it much more fun.
Just keep the faith, baby! There is nothing wrong with having a solid belief system, especially if it is the Evangelical faith, and only true one. It it way past time to be Rapture ready. Heretics and infidels will be vanquished to burn in hell during the coming armageddon. Only Evangelicals will survive, and be lifted to eternal life in heaven by Jesus, with one of the best and brightest evangelicals, George W. Bush right by his side. All the terrorists will be smitten, along with the rest of the cursed ones- the muslims, jews, hindus, buddhists, confuscians, nativists, heathens, atheists, barbarians, misfits, and misc. riff raff. Everyone left will have the same faith based belief. That's when the war on terrorism will finally be won.
About: 'a neo-con right wing sputter to make fun of before'
He's more like a drugged-up, whacked-out nutter. He's got a bunch of posts over in the archives at Grasscity.com about how to grow a better crop. SPtool is no intellectual. He's FUBAR-ed.
You know, I just realized something.
Like Obama and the jesus freak in the white house, you cannot write anything meaningful either!
Heck! You guys can run for president too! Yeah, you, Obama, Joe Biden....what IS it with democrats????
Humm, hypocrisy alert.
I never found a leftist who had a problem with pot before.
Or such an idiot who doesn't realize that you can use different names on the internet.
First off, I'm no leftist. As to your assertion about using different names on the net, you are assuming that the SP4 at Grasscity.com is not the same SPfricking idiot on this site. Well, the evidence is there. SPidiot's alleged education is the same drivel spewed out over at Grasscity. No two different people can spout the same identical lie, there are always subtle differences. The tone of post is identical. The grammatical structure is identical. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, stinks like a duck, then it's gotta be SPdruggie. What proof do you need, a news release from the DEA, when they take him down?
Further, SPfricking drug addict is too stupid to use anything other than SP4 His drug addled brain couldn't keep track of more than one alias.
I've never been to 'grass city'.
I hate drugs, for reasons that, like almost everything else, you cannot begin to grasp.
In fact, I write, frequently about how I despise the drug culture this nation coddles.
You'd know that if you've read my posts.
Right here...not on hemp nation...or wherever...
You see, I suspect the poster above is, like most folks, not necessarily stupid, but lazy. This is why I get these stupid posts back, with zero content. It's not easy to retort, so he goes to the insult. Libnazis always go to the:
Stupid
Crazy
Radical
This is the playbook.
'First off, I'm no leftist.'
My apologies, I just assumed that since you weren't all that bright and had waaaay too much time on your hands... well...
'you are assuming that the SP4 at Grasscity.com is not the same SPfricking idiot on this site.'
I don't know or care. (I actually would think it kind of funny if he was. It would demonstrate that he doesn't go in lock step with anything. Can you imagine? All that coming from someone who is growing dope and listening to Rush Limbaugh with a black-light and a lava lamp in the background? LOL)
'Well, the evidence is there.'
See the whole 'don't know/care' thing above. What DOES creep me out is that there is a little internet stalker here with, as I said, waaaay too much time on your hands and no problem with trying to post other peoples information in order to intimidate them in to shutting up. It smacks of desperation and pettiness that you would try that because you are too thick to take people on and win in a battle of ideas.
'f it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, stinks like a duck, then it's gotta be SPdruggie.'
Well, really all that means is that you can't seem to take on someone who is a 'druggie' then.
'What proof do you need,'
I don't. I just think it is kind of pathetic and creepy that you are going to such lengths to get to know 'the real SP4.'
'Further, SPfricking drug addict is too stupid to use anything other than SP4 His drug addled brain couldn't keep track of more than one alias.'
Well then, you should be able to really devastate his arguments instead of following him around and posting non sequitur and ad hominem insults after every post he makes. So have at it genius! Show that you can really embarrass the 'drug addict' with your clever and reasoned counterargument!
Because if you can't you are just showing that you can't keep up with someone who is just typing between bong hits. That would be sad. :-D
..please...
As my name was brought up, I too would think it funny if SP4 was a druggie, growing pot and all it would make me think more of him. Right now I only think he is an old neo-con Rush loving redneck, that keeps chanting the same old same old.
If he was getting his groove on by hitting the bong he would however have more to say than the same old talking points, claiming he is never wrong when in fact 90% of the time he is.
'claiming he is never wrong when in fact 90% of the time he is.'
So it should be easy enough for you too to point out that 90 percent instead of lamely calling him names, right?
...waiting sweetheart....waiting...
Think is tough...for some of you. I accept that. When I see the insults, I've won.
(im)pppperfect, try reading...good god, you have the Internet and you still won't inform yourselves. What a lazy segment of your generation. Try reading something in a book. They're usually square objects, filled with papers, that have words on them.
Libraries have these books, and will check them out for free, to you. You can buy them as well. Then, get back to us.
Indeed SP4,somebody at the White House found that out too,and thought it convenient to use artivles in those square odd things full of pages to appear smarter .That is what the article was about, remember?
...perhaps, I just don't happen to know what an artivle is...
...but he resigned, Tonny. If he were a democrat, he'd be running for President.
You can bet the article isn't about that, i.e. leave it to a set of libnazi publishers to run this for 4 days on the front page, while burying the story of Obama doing exactly the same thing, right?
By all means, get back to us on that...
Some no name White House lap dog steals a few articles and he's the damn boogie man, while Obama does it and gets to be president?
'Some no name White House lap dog steals a few articles and he's the damn boogie man, while Obama does it and gets to be president?'
We can only hope---cross your fingers.

Tim must have gotten the idea from Master Bush....Mar 1st, 2008 - 01:11:22
'[Castro] welcomes sex tourism,' Bush told a room of law enforcement officials in Florida, according to the Los Angeles Times. 'Here's how he bragged about the industry,' Bush said. 'This is his quote: 'Cuba has the cleanest and most educated prostitutes in the world.''
'As it turns out, Bush had lifted that quotation not from an actual Castro speech but rather from a 2001 essay written by then Dartmouth University undergraduate Charles Trumbull. In the essay, Trumbull did appear to quote a Castro speech about prostitution. Sadly, the student made the quotation up.
