Six found slain, three gravely wounded in Memphis house
Mar 4, 2008, 9:26 GMT
Washington - Four adults and two children were found dead late Monday in a house in Memphis, Tennessee, and three other children were found gravely wounded.
All five children killed or wounded were younger than 12, the daily Commercial Appeal in Memphis reported on its website.
The three survivors were hospitalized in extremely critical condition, though two were later upgraded.
Most of the victims were shot, though at least one child suffered stab wounds, the newspaper reported, citing an emergency response source.
An initial statement from police said neither the time of the killings nor the motive was known.
The house where the victims were found was rented by a couple with at least two children. A relative called police when there was no answer at the door, and officers found the dead and wounded in the living room and bedrooms.
