Clinton hints at Obama as running mate (Extra)

Mar 5, 2008, 13:42 GMT

Washington - Hillary Clinton Wednesday hinted that she would be open to the idea of having rival Barack Obama share the Democratic presidential ticket in the general elections.

In an interview with MSNBC, Senator Clinton, 60, was answering a question about whether she would consider Senator Obama, 46, as a vice presidential candidate if she wins the Democratic Party nomination.

'We're going to put together a winning ticket,' Clinton answered.

The two candidates are neck and neck in the historic battle to become the party's first woman and black nominee. Clinton revived her flagging campaign Tuesday night by taking party primary prizes in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island.

Party regulars are worried that a prolonged fight which could stretch until June will undermine the party's ability to win over Republican Senator John McCain, 71, who sealed his hold on the centre-right party's nomination Tuesday night.

But Clinton signalled her determination to continue on, saying: 'I really believe voters can sort this out.'

'We'll have a unified party, but it has to be behind a candidate who can go toe to toe with John McCain,' Clinton said.

Clinton believes she has the upper hand on national security issues and her wins in the big states of Texas and Ohio were attributed in part to a last minute slew of television ads that played on voters' fears about security issues.

Clinton lags behind Obama in the state and super delegate count by less than 100 out of the 2,205 needed to take the nomination at the party convention in Denver in August. She has 1,365 delegates compared to Obama's 1,451, according to CNN.

well, I'll vote for Hillary, However I will NOT vote for a Hillary / Obama combination. I don't like Obama, he's way too smug and full of himself, as well as the fact that he has no where near enough actual
experiance to have a clue. Hillary needs to pick a good running mate that is for sure, Obama is not the choice however. I don't want to vote
Republican but that ticket or Obama will force me to vote for McCain.

That's awfully cheeky of her, considering that she's still losing the delegate count as of today. The Clinton team can't do math very well, can they?

May be you just don't like Obama because he is smart, responsible and not your typical politician who wants to destroy the credibility of his or her opponents. Let us face it, Hillary is winning the democratic states. At the end of the day in a general, Obama will win the Democratic States and digs in the Red and Purple states to become the first black US president. Oh no, the second one, if we count the players Bill Clinton and Abraham Lincoln.

Senator Clinton's 'hinting' that she might choose Senator Obama as her running mate, if she turns out to be the nominee, is another of her attempts to hoodwink the American public. She knows perfectly well that Barack Obama would never be willing to take the worthless, do-nothing job of Vice President, and especially not on her ticket, since he would never be willing to sully his reputation for integrity by associating himself so closely with Hillary Clinton.

Her underhanded and duplicitous behavior in this election have been a disgrace to the Democratic party. She is trying to attract more voters for herself, not only by deceiving people about Senator Obama's record, but by trying to convince the voters that they can vote for her and get Obama, too. Anyone who knows Senator Obama's record and attitudes knows that he would never, never agree to be on her ticket, and he is running for President and nothing else in this election.

Somewhat presumptive considering she's still behind on the delegate count. The only way for her to win is to continue her negative campaigning, and take it to the convention and seat Michigan and Florida, splitting the democratic party in the process. If she wins I'll sit this one out as I can't in good conscience vote for either her or McCain. She's as dirty as the republicans at this point.

'too smug and full of himself?' How could you even consider voting for a McCain ticket, essentially a reaffirmation of the status quo? While I'll admit McCain is the least vile of the recently departed, his stance on the 'war' is intollerable, and his admitted unfamiliarity with the economic issues is frightening. Although your vote would likely not be missed, think about what you're saying. Combine the tenacity of the Clintons with the vision of Obama, who could ask for more?

I'm afraid McCain and Hillary are not that far off on the issues, if you look closely.

Both voted for this war (remember?)

Domestically, McCain is farther to the right, but not nearly enough. Hillary has fooled you into believing she's anti-free trade, but anyone who was there in the 90's knows better.

Now Hirrary is mouthing fed healthcare, but she's tried that old chestnut before.

So, who is fooling who here?

@Leo from Michigan

And I'll vote for Obama, but I won't vote for a Hillary/Obama ticket because 1) she will most likely have to fight dirty and steal the nomination to get it, 2) it will be a Devil's deal to get Obama to agree to the VP spot, and 3) Hillary's policy stances (especially on HealthCare) scare me- she's a Socialist, not a Democrat.

So if everyone is typical of our two views, where does this leave us? With McCain (ick) in the office. Happy days indeed.

Obama should not even consider Billary when he accepts the nomination. Let the Clintons go back to Arkansas or New York. Just go away.

..the Clintons are far worse than any of the Bush family. The Clintons did things tha Bsu never did and never had it held up to scrutiny.

Bush, on the other hand, has been treated as though he's done allof what Clinton did, while doing nothing of the sort.

Take Iraq as an example: Clinton conducted a war over Romania and Kosovo, but was never pilloried for it like Bush was Iraq.

Clinton's result, as we can plainly see, was a failure, and it wss never acknowledged

Bush, on the other hand, had democrats vote for this war, and then pillory him for it after THEY gfreenlighted it!

Bush has never gotten the breaks ol Billy did, while having to clean up after him.

Dems blame Bush for Osama getting away, but Clinton HAD him offered up on a platter. Clinton also pardoned 4(?) Puerto Rican terrorists and was never held to account for it.

No...GW Bush is nothing like Clinton

I agree with you guys that Obama is the one who will really scare away Democratic voters. I was watching Ralph Nader on CSpan and he was getting calls saying they would never vote for Obama. He is really provoking, arrogant, attacking, and makes the most imaginary almost psychotic accusations about Hillary. He is certifiable narcissistic. That is the problem with people who shine like that, they really have a dark side.

DOWNSIDE LEGACY AT TWO DEGREES OF PRESIDENT CLINTON
SECTION: BEHIND THE TREASON ALLEGATIONS
SUBSECTION: PEACEKEEPING AFTER EMBASSY BOMBING
Revised 6/17/99

5/7/99 BELGRADE '...One of the people injured in a NATO strike on the Chinese embassy in Belgrade Friday night has died, the Yugoslav news agency Beta said Saturday. 'One employee of the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia was killed in the overnight strike on the Chinese embassy building in Belgrade,'' Beta said. The Beta agency added that two more employees were missing. ''It is feared that these two have also been killed,'' it said....'

Washington Post 5/8/99 Daniel Williams '...NATO missiles plowed into the Chinese embassy in Belgrade during a ferocious allied bombardment tonight that also struck the Interior Ministry and army headquarters and again plunged the capital city into darkness. The 26 Chinese staff members who lived in the building were taken to a hospital, and there were conflicting initial reports about the extent of the casualties. The official New China News Agency reported that four people were injured and four others were missing. Yugoslav Foreign Ministry spokesman Nebojsa Vujovic said 'there are deaths and injuries,' without providing details. The airstrike that hit the embassy seemed likely to complicate Western efforts to secure a diplomatic settlement to the Kosovo conflict and to raise new strains in U.S.-Chinese relations..... Earlier today, NATO cluster bombs struck a residential neighborhood and hospital grounds in Nis, Serbia's third-largest city, killing at least 14 civilians and wounding 30 others. NATO said tonight that it was 'highly probable that a weapon went astray and hit civilian buildings' during an attack on a nearby airfield....'

AFP 5/7/99 '...The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting at 11:30 p.m. (0330 GMT) at the rquest of Beijing after a NATO bomb hit the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, council diplomats said. The independent Beta news agency in Belgrade reported at least one person had been killed in the strike, which Chinese diplomats here called a 'barbarian act.'

It's kinda like Waco, libnazis just need the right motivation to send in their murderers like one crazy preacher and one bullsh-t gun charge to kill (20?) kids?

Nice work if you can get it. Sorta makes you nostalgic for the good old days...Richard Daley beating up protesters, LBJ sitting in his office refusing to send in troops to Montgomery....while blacks were beaten...

I wonder where the libs were when those nutcases blew up that building in Oklahoma? Did you hear any libanzi crap about producing terrorists with violence when they did that? Golly, I don't remember a thing.

Senator Sociopath

There is no way to categorize her as anything but a sociopath as she perfectly fits the profile. A sociopath is defined as a person with a sense of entitlement who is unremorseful and apathetic to others, takes no personal responsibility and is manipulative and conning. They tend to be affectively cold and socially irresponsible, non-conforming to norms and are often grandiose. In other word., Hillary Clinton.

And now she believes she will pick the vice president to run with her? Did I say sense of entitlement, grandiose, manipulative and conning? There are better reasons to elect a person to the presidency other than they want it so obsessively.
