Washington - US Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy is to receive surgery Monday to remove a malignant brain tumour, US broadcaster CNN reported, citing a statement from the 76-year-old veteran politician.

The last surviving Kennedy brother was being treated in the Duke University Medical Centre in North Carolina, and after recuperating at Duke for a week, he was scheduled to start radiation treatment and chemotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital, the report said.

The long-serving Democratic senator was diagnosed with a glioma, a cancerous tumour of the brain that is particularly dangerous, after he suffered a seizure in May while out walking his dogs.

Doctors said that the seizure was caused by a tumour in Kennedy's left parietal lobe.

When Kennedy, considered the patriarch of the Democratic Party, suffered his seizure, it was met with an outpouring of concern and shock in the United States.

In 1963, Ted Kennedy buried his brother John Fitzgerald (Jack), assassinated when he was president, and in 1968, his other brother Robert (Bobby), who was also assassinated.

could not stand up to Bill or Hillary in a debate for a New York minute. bush is a failure at everything he attempts and his intentions are slimy, always! Anybody supporting bush at this point desperately needs professional help.

Perhaps there is a chance tha one say a spakle of reality will one day invde the brain of SP4,that'll be the day when he understands that the attacks againsts Bush are not personal but azddress his policies, unlike his attacls directed against Kennedy .At least we are talking torture, invasion, lies, squandering your natural resources, omitting to take any measure against climate change, handing out your government to corporate thieves.Nothing personal in that, except that these are all the wrongdoing of Bush.Notice the difference of nature of these attacks now ?

I agree, SP4's attacks never seem to be about the issue, and that has allways buged me. It's good to know that there are people out there who agree with me:)
