Hurricane Gustav puts Republicans on ice, but pregnancy causes stir
Sep 1, 2008, 17:32 GMT

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is flanked by her daughter Bristol and baby Trig as she greets the crowd after being introduced as the running mate to United States Senator and Republican presidential presumptive nominee John McCain (Republican-Arizona) during a rally at the Nutter Center during a campaign stop at Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio, USA, 29 August, 2008. St Paul, Minnesota - The Republican presidential nominating convention was put on ice Monday by the unfolding natural disaster of Hurricane Gustav along the Gulf Coast.
But the pregnancy of the 17-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin, Senator John McCain's vice presidential choice, kept McCain in the headlines during a day otherwise devoted to coverage of Hurricane Gustav's arrival in storm-weary New Orleans.
The monster hurricane prompted last-minute changes in the convention, which was to have opened with a raft of political speeches later Monday, including from US President George W Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.
Mindful of avoiding political rhetoric and celebrations as the country watches the hurricane slam into the coast, McCain and his campaign on Sunday decided that Republican delegates would only meet for two hours to take care of essential business.
Bush headed to Texas Monday to be with federal storm rescue coordinators - a drastic change from his actions in 2005, when Hurricane Katrina approached, then flooded New Orleans, with little visibility or supervision of federal efforts from Bush.
Federal emergency coordinators were blamed for the delayed rescue of tens of thousands of New Orleans residents who went for days without food and water. Katrina killed 1,800 in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
Palin, 44, the little-known governor of Alaska, was McCain's surprise choice for vice president announced on Friday.
On Monday, she and husband Todd issued an e-mail confirmation that their 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was five months pregnant.
'Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned,' the couple said.
'We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents,' they said.
Palin, the mother of five children, brings youth and gender to the ticket of McCain, who is 72. She is also an outspoken opponent of abortion, and her choice was seen as a pitch to conservative Republicans uneasy about the more centrist position of McCain on many issues.
At one point, McCain was reported to even be open to the idea of former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge, who favours keeping abortions legal, as his vice president.
The Palins said that Bristol and 'the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family.'
Normally, the first day of a presidential convention kicks off with party rhetoric and bombast, although there had been some uneasiness among McCain supporters about the appearance of Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
McCain has in recent months avoided close connections with Bush, his popularity rating dragged down by a slumping economy and the war in Iraq.
But such worries disappeared with Bush's decision to go to Texas.
Republican delegates will start meeting about 2000 GMT on Monday to confirm accreditation of party delegates and adopt the party platform and rules.
Organizers said they would make decisions day-to-day about the programme on Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was not clear when the official nomination of McCain would take place. Candidates traditionally hold their acceptance speeches on Thursday.
It's the first time in anyone's memory that a party convention has been so drastically changed because of an outside event, a commentator told CNN.
'It just wouldn't be appropriate to have a festive occasion while a near-tragedy or a terrible challenge is presented in the form of a natural disaster,' McCain said over the weekend.

'The Palins said that Bristol and 'the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family.'
And Palin's guns rights advocacy will come in handy during the shotgun marriage. Nothing like the love of good weapons in the family.
But ... really ... why get married in the first place, it is just a formality. But it is a way to deny gays their rights so I guess marriage will be mandatory.
'Difficulties raising a child'?? So she wants to go to Washington and end up having nannies take care of hers?
Now we see the true value of 'Abstinence Only' sex education. A fundamental belief of our new prospective VP nominee. Kudos John McCain! excellent choice to showcase the effectiveness of republican social conservative ideals!
Why weren't they responsible enough to get this info out in the first place? They should have known it would get out and being forthright would have looked so much better. It's no one's business for sure, but when a person opts to be in the public you can't hide anything!!
want things to get worse?
vote for mcbush .
Since McCain clearly knew about it (after the initial vetting, when it SHOULD have been picked up) - why did his campaign hold back the news?
By not announcing it quickly, McCain has let all kinds of rumors fester, and he's done his own VP pick a disservice.
Let me propose Obama's argument - and he should make it quickly:
'We've had 8 years of lies from Bush and Cheney, and McCain is running as an agent of change. By not coming forth with his own statement, and by hiding the facts, McCain comes off as just another person keeping the truth from the public - and we've had ENOUGH of THAT!
What Governor Palin and her family decide is their private business, and their willing inclusion of this out-of-wedlock birth into their family is a great example of how other families should behave in such circumstances. Children should also have birth control education available, to avoid this sort of unplanned event from happening in the first place. Bringing a child into the world should be something intentional, and looked forward to; and not something to be covered up.'
Gee, at least this kid didn't get knocked up and abandoned, like Obamas mother.

Gee, at least this kid didn't get knocked up and abandoned, like Obamas mother.
=============================================
Obama's parents met while attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where his father was a foreign student. They separated when he was two years old, and later divorced.
With Palin, we have a shotgun wedding - or whatever her choice of weapons is, at the moment.
That's about the only thing that I didn't know about Bristol Palin's pregnancy. The rest of the details I picked up almost without trying, while talking about other things with townsfolk — some who know the governor and her family well, some who don't. It was, more or less, an open secret. And everyone was saying the same thing: the governor's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, the father is her boyfriend, and it's really nobody's business beyond that.
I happen to agree.
This tiny town wedged in between the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges has intrigued the whole country since John McCain's surprise Friday announcement that Wasilla's favorite daughter, Sarah Palin, would be his running mate. Sure, some of the interest was a prelude to attacks on Palin's readiness for national office. But Wasilla also offered a welcome chance to get specific about the geography of a politician. It's one of our most cherished myths, that a leader can come from somewhere and you can guess at their qualities not just by what they say, but where they live.
Well, here's the deal: small towns have their own value systems, and in this situation those values are more a lot more valid than the dispassionate, pushy inquisitiveness that political journalism encourages.
I just got off the phone with a longtime Wasilla resident. She had urged me to find time today to go up to Hatcher Pass—'the most beautiful place in the valley!'—when I mentioned that the story on Bristol's baby is now national news. Her voice slowed. 'Oh,' she said. 'I'm so sorry. That's so unfair.'
Wasilla seems at times to be utterly without guile. It's a large part of the town's charm, and it's exactly the quality that could make an unorthodox pick like Palin pay off. Don't get me wrong — she's a tough politician with sharp enough elbows on her own. But still, she appears to be more steeped in the values of her hometown than any politician I've ever come across.
Maybe that means Palin is a little too much Northern Exposure for America—after all, her father's good friend Curt Menard happily showed me a picture of the governor as a high schooler in 1981, in a root cellar with family and friends, helping skin and cube and cure a whole moose. It's enough to make you almost miss fake hunters like John Kerry and Mitt Romney.
People in Wasilla are Alaskan tough, so not only does a thing like teen pregnancy not seem like anyone's damn business, but it's also not seen as the calamity so many people in the lower 48 might think it is. This is dangerous country — it's not just the roughneck jobs on cable reality shows. It's real life here. I listened to the absolutely heartbreaking story of how the godfather of Track Palin, Sarah's oldest son, died in small plane crash just minutes after having dropped off four kids. Another family invited me into their home and told their incredible story; with one son in Iraq, their other son was working on a conveyor line in Anchorage, got caught in the belt and had his head partially crushed. He lived to stand across the kitchen table from me and his parents, looking fully healed just three months later, grinning at his dumb luck and wondering what comes next in life. 'It makes you realize that a thing like a little teenage pregnancy isn't such a big deal,' his mom said. 'Bristol—and lots of other girl like her out there — are going to be just fine.'
If you haven't guessed yet, the people here are genuinely friendly. Even those in Palin's inner sanctum who have been told since Friday not to talk to reporters by McCain's media team, are almost apologetic that they can't be neighborly and chat, since you came all this way to little Wasilla. And those who can talk, do. All weekend they had the decency not to pretend that they didn't know the governor's eldest daughter was pregnant. But they also expected decency in return, that I wouldn't be the kind of person to make sport out of a young girl's slip.
The fact is, regardless of what you will hear over the next few days, Bristol's pregnancy is not a legitimate political issue. Sarah Palin is a longterm member of a group called Feminists for Life, which is not opposed to birth control. So you probably can't tag her for consigning young people to unwanted pregnancies.
You can argue that it was hamhanded of the McCain campaign—they had to have known, right?—to somehow let this drop just a few days after the announcement. Pregnancy does show, and it does have a ticking clock. The story was going to come out eventually.
As for the idea — sure to be floated—that the avowedly anti-abortion Palin may have pressured her poor daughter to ruin her life by carrying an unwanted baby to term, I wouldn't bet on it. The Palin family seems to share the same pro-life values going back at least as far back as anyone here can remember, and it wouldn't be at all surprising if Bristol wore those values, however imperfectly, as her own. At least, that's what the town thinks. And Wasilla, above all, is pretty sensible.
'Obama's parents met while attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where his father was a foreign student. They separated when he was two years old, and later divorced.'
Obamas father was already married to another woman (Polygamy is OK in Islam) and when he walked out that was it, no child support, no emotional suport, no nothing.
He split and fathered a half dozen other kids in Africa, who he also abandoned. Obamas half brother lives in a shanty on $12 a year.
So, I hope that when someone else's daughter gets knocked up that Palin will not be butting in and forcing her opinion on their private matters. For example:
(a) If the children want to live together out of marriage, that is OK. Don't let christians and Palin put you down.
(b) If they choose abortion then don't let Palin butt into your life with her opinion.
(c) When your children want to have sex then don't let Palin force abstinence training on them.
(e) When your children want to learn about evolution, don't let Palin butt in with jesus creationism.
Something tells me that Palin is just another hypocrite ready to take office.
A christian hypocrite, killing muslims with one hand and preaching peace with the other.
A drunk and a bigot - what the US Presidental hopeful HASN'T said about his father...
By SHARON CHURCHER (Abridged)
Mr Obama's book, Dreams From My Father, is flying off the shelves of US book stores, exciting and astonishing readers in equal measure. It is a bestseller, and no wonder - because the story just gets better and better...
[...]
An investigation by The Mail on Sunday has revealed that, for all Mr Obama's reputation for straight talking and the compelling narrative of his recollections, they are largely myth.
We have discovered that his father was not just a deeply flawed individual but an abusive bigamist and an egomaniac, whose life was ruined not by racism or corruption but his own weaknesses. And, devastatingly, the testimony has come from Mr Obama's own relatives and family friends.
At 18, he married a girl called Kezia. But Obama Snr was more interested in politics and economics than his family and his political leanings had been brought to the notice of leaders of the Kenyan Independence movement.
He was put forward for an American-sponsored scholarship in economics, with the idea being that he would eventually use his Western-honed skills in the new Kenya. At the age of 23 he headed for university in Hawaii, leaving behind the pregnant Kezia and their baby son.
Relatives say he was already a slick womaniser and, once in Honolulu, he promptly persuaded a fellow student called Ann - a naive 18-year-old white girl - to marry him. Barack Jnr was born in August, 1961.
Two years later, Obama Snr was on the move again. He was accepted at Harvard, and left his little boy and wife behind when he moved to the exclusive east coast university.
At the time, Ann explained to their son that his father had gone because his meagre stipend would not support the family if they lived together. But finance was the least of her worries.
Mr Obama Jnr claims that racism on both sides of the family destroyed the marriage between his mother and father.
In his book, he says that Ann's mother, who went by the nickname Tut, did not want a black son-in-law, and Obama Snr's father 'didn't want the Obama blood sullied by a white woman'.
In fact Ann divorced her husband after she discovered his bigamous double life. She remarried and moved to Indonesia with young Barack and her new husband, an oil company manager.
Obama Snr was forced to return to Kenya, where he fathered two more children by Kezia. He was eventually hired as a top civil servant in the fledgling government of Jomo Kenyatta - and married yet again.
Now prosperous with a flashy car and good salary, his third wife was an American-born teacher called Ruth, whom he had met at Harvard while still legally married to both Kezia and Ann, and who followed him to Africa.
A relative of Mr Obama says: 'We told him[Barack] how his father would still go to Kezia and it was during these visits that she became pregnant with two more children. He also had two children with Ruth.'
It is alleged that Ruth finally left him after he repeatedly flew into whisky-fuelled rages, beating her brutally.
Friends say drinking blighted his life - he lost both his legs while driving under the influence and also lost his job.
However, this was no bar to his womanising: he sired a son, his eighth child, by yet another woman and continued to come home drunk.
He was about to marry her when he finally died in yet another drunken crash when Obama was 21.
Mr Obama's 40-year-old cousin Said Hussein Obama told The Mail on Sunday: 'Clearly, Barack has been very deeply affected by what he has learned about his father, who was my father's older brother.
'You have to remember that his father was an African and in Africa, polygamy is part of life.
'We have assured Barack that his father was a loving person but at times it must be difficult for him to reconcile this with his father's drinking and simultaneous marriages.'...
Said adds: 'His father was a human being and as such you can't say that he
'My cousin found it difficult when he came here to learn of his half-brothers and sisters born to four different mothers....
Far from being an inspiration, the father whom Mr Obama was coming to know seemed like a total stranger.
In his book, he attempts to put the best face on it. His father, he writes, lost his civil service job after campaigning against corrupt African politicians who had 'taken the place of the white colonials'.
One of Obama Snr's former drinking partners, Kenyan writer Philip Ochieng Ochieng says, however, that his friend's downfall was his weak character.
'Although charming, generous and extraordinarily clever, Obama Snr was also imperious, cruel and given to boasting about his brain and his wealth,' he said. 'He was excessively fond of Scotch. He had fallen into the habit of going home drunk every night. His boasting proved his undoing and left him without a job, plunged him into prolonged poverty and dangerously wounded his ego.'
Ochieng recalls how, after sitting up all night drinking Black Label whisky at Nairobi's famous Stanley Hotel, Obama Snr would fly into rages if Ruth asked where he had been. Ochieng remonstrated with his friend, saying: 'You bring a woman from far away and you reduce her to pulp. That is not our way.'
But it was to no avail. Ruth sued for divorce after her husband administered brutal beatings.
In fact he was a menace to life, said Ochieng. 'He had many extremely serious accidents. Both his legs had to be amputated. They were replaced with crude false limbs made from iron. 'He was just like Mr Toad [from Wind In The Willows], very arrogant on the road, especially when he had whisky inside. I was not surprised when I learned how he died.'
Ruth refused to comment on the abuse charges when we tracked her down to the Kenyan school where she now works. She said: 'I was married to Barack's father for seven years so, yes, you could say Barack is my stepson.
'Barack's father was a very difficult man. Although I was married to him the longest of any of his wives he wasn't an easy person to be around.'
Mr Obama has acknowledged that his father grappled with a drinking problem. But with a gift for words that makes Mrs Clinton's utterances seem stiff and stale, he has turned it into another component of the myth.
Drink, he says, like drugs, are one of 'the traps that seem laid in a black man's soul'. [...]
Family members and acquaintances believe that the real cloud over Mr Obama's life has been the discovery that his father was far from the romantic figure that his mother tried to portray.
A family friend said: 'He is haunted by his father's failures. He grew up thinking of his father as a brilliant intellectual and pioneer of African independence only to learn that in Western terms he was basically a drunken lecher.'
This ugly truth, say friends, has made Mr Obama ruthlessly determined to use every weapon that he has to succeed, including the glossily edited version of his father's story. 'At the end of the day Barack wants the story to help his political cause, so perhaps he couldn't afford to be too honest,' said Ochieng....

Go ahead, eat something, allah doesn't care.
on both sides. Who gives a rat's patoot if Palin's daughter is pregnant. Most people think it should have been told right away to discourage the wild rumors that did happen. After all, it is part of their family. As for Obama's father and half brothers somewhere in Africa. Are we supposed to be responsible for what our family members do? Think about your own family and see how many would want to claim half of them let alone be held responsible for them.
maybe some of these posters' families wouldn't want to claim them. I feel sorry for this young girl that she will be in the spotlight so much during her ordeal. Why wouldn't her mother have given her situation more thought to put her through this?
Anyone here that has raised kids to adulthood should know that at some point the kids make their own decisions and choices. Sometimes those choices aren't what the parents hope for or taught. That's life.Kathy
'Anyone here that has raised kids to adulthood should know that at some point the kids make their own decisions and choices. Sometimes those choices aren't what the parents hope for or taught. That's life.Kathy'
Kathy, Hum, interesting. So, lets hear more about that. So, you think such a kid is bad and a sinner? Going to hell? Please list in detail all of the horrid and wrenching bigotry of your christian point of view.
Are you saying kids can't fall in love, have a kid and enjoy themselves? Why not? Why so much negativity on your part?
What if the kid of a nice christian family choose to be a muslim? Is there something wrong with that? Please lets do hear all of the detail regarding 'what the parents hope for or taught'. Do you teach your kids that muslims are bad, or having a kid is bad unless it is done according to your prescription.
Let me read in fine detail all of your thoughts on this matter. Go into life examples regarding your bigotry and how you want to force only your values on people.
Are you indicating that if MY kid made a wrong choice, according to YOUR prescription, then I as a parent MUST have unachieved hope? Or is your point of view relative: You think what you want and I think what I want and we shall never cross paths?
Do you think that Palin should be MY moral compass as the V.P. of the U.S., or should she keep her opinion to herself? Should she influence social policies on abstinence and such matters? Thus influencing my family and forcing me by policy and law to adhere to her values?
I detect bigotry, hypocrisy, and uncaring totalitarianism in your remark.
BTW: A person of 17 is a child, not an adult. So, technically your remark is inconsequential and results in a stretch of a truth that eludes to your wanting to make excuses for this lady and her behavior of hypocrisy.
Lance - a psychiatrist in our midst!!!
Here we have TWO pages of prattling zombie-like gossip about some insignificant teenager and her idiotic parents proudly announcing the result of some adolescent romp.
Do any of you realise that there are over 350,000 births EVERY DAY in the world. What on earth is SO special about this post-romp revelation ?
Apart from being a disgusting and shameful thing to broadcast to the world, WHO CARES ABOUT HER - IT - OR THE DAMNED PARENTS ?
An incidence of 1 in over 350,000 mathematically spells INFINITE IRRELEVANCE.
FORGET THIS GRUBBY LITTLE FAMILY AND THERE CLUMSY EXPLORATORY OFFSPRING, and get on with national events that really matter.
Have you all forgotten GUSTAV ??????????
No we haven't forgotten about Gustav, but this situation does happen to have something to do with the Republican Party which is supposedly having their convention this week! It's all about being forth right with the public and people's thoughts that Palin is not going to be giving her best as VP with the situation at home. But, as a lot of people feel, she isn't going to have to worry about being VP anyway!
Lance, the the h*** was that? We that have children teach them our beliefs. I happen to believe that it's better for kids to wait until they're fully ready before they have children of their own because raising children entails alot of maturity and most 17 year olds but not all are not ready. However, if my daughter got pregnant at 17-which by the way I do consider a young adult-the decision how to handle the situation would be hers to make.
At least this child will know who its father is.Sep 1st, 2008 - 20:20:50

So what? This has anything to do with anything pertinent to this election?
Governor Palin, on the other hand, is supposed to be the faith-based model for all good and holy. So what does her kid do? Get pregnant. It's now 5 months - when did Sarah get the news?
Even worse is McCain's not revealing the facts immediately, compounding the problems for the Palin family. if you want to stop rumors, tell the truth, and quickly. McCain wanted to stall this until after the Convention, and bury it in a tropical storm's worth of headlines.
What we have here is hypocrisy on the highest order.
Here's an e-mail showing Gov. Palin trying to strong-arm the system - not a 'nice lady', in my book. She may have had cause to be angry, but using the influence of your office is an ethics violation.

More power to Obama for overcoming these hardships, and turning out as a symbol of the GOOD things that this country can look forward to.
The right-wing bullshitters are really over the top this time; trying ANYTHING to deflect from Palin's here-and-now problems.
An official investigation into her strong-arming civil servants in the Wooten matter. No one is defending Wooten's behavior, but that's why we have courts and judges.
The preposterous idea that the Governor of Alaska, by charter, is a 'Commander in Chief' - as though the other 49 Governors were not. Next, we'll hear how she does not spit on the sidewalk.
What are this woman's qualifications in foreign affairs, the nation's military (carrying your own weapon counts for zilch), health care reform, the National Debt and budhet deficit, our calling behind the rest of the world in education and broadband capability. How about roads and bridges that should have been rebuilt or retrofitted, while Cheney's cabal made contractors wealthy in Iraq?
These are all issues that this woman knows nothing about. She's an Alaskan, and brings that mentality with her. Drill ANWR (and McCain was against it). Make Alaska wealthy - appropriate for a governor, but not a VP. How about alternative energy?
How about her desire to teach creationism? She does not understand modern society's contribution to global warming, and her mind is closed to it. She opposes listing polar bears as endangered, although the ice they live on is rapidly melting.
This person, by any conventional standards, is about 100 years out of date - any why Democratic women would vote for her totally escapes me.
Chromosomes over competence. Pandering over policy. Attention-grabbing over accomplishment. Right-wing ass-kissing over reality.
And McCain's entire organization cannot come up with a blemish-free candidate?

'So what? This has anything to do with anything pertinent to this election?'
Well firstly it shows what a lousy background he has, what a narcissistic, selfish character his father had and what a lousy family he comes from. The apple rarely falls far from the tree.
'Governor Palin, on the other hand, is supposed to be the faith-based model for all good and holy. '
According to whom? The same people who look to the obamamessiah as a 'light bringer'? So him taking kickbacks and being a coke head in college, does that make him a false messiah?
'So what does her kid do? Get pregnant.'
It has been known to happen. Did either of your parents get pregnant?
'Even worse is McCain's not revealing the facts immediately, compounding the problems for the Palin family. '
LOL, stretching it a bit thin, aren't you?
'if you want to stop rumors, tell the truth, and quickly'
Is that why Obama came out and admitted he was registered at school as a muslim? Is that why he said he couldn't abandon his racist preacher? Is that why Obama but the best face on what a scumbag his father was?
We found out a few days ago that Palen was the nominee for VP. How much faster do you want it?
'McCain wanted to stall this until after the Convention, and bury it in a tropical storm's worth of headlines.'
So why did they announce it before?
'Here's an e-mail showing Gov. Palin trying to strong-arm the system - not a 'nice lady', in my book. '
I don't want a 'nice lady' as VP. I want an effective administrator and a pit bull for American interests. Her 90% approval rating and the fact that she got more votes at her reelection as mayor then Joe Biden got in his presidential campaign tells me that she is such a person.
'More power to Obama for overcoming these hardships, and turning out as a symbol of the GOOD things that this country can look forward to.'
Socialism, surrender to islamist terrorism, the entrenching of the 'me' generation, decline, loss of sovereignty, loss of manufacturing, greater debt, larger current account defect, worthless dollar, loss of freedom, a nanny state, more terrorist attacks, the loss of individualism... That is what this country can look forward to with Obama and no, it's not good.
'An official investigation into her strong-arming civil servants in the Wooten matter. No one is defending Wooten's behavior, but that's why we have courts and judges.'
There are investigation into Obama taking kickbacks from tony Rezko. Word is, Rezko may be cooperating with the feds.
As his sentencing nears, pressure is mounting on Tony Rezko to cooperate with federal investigations into some of the highest-profile politicians in the state -- including Gov. Blagojevich.
Two more trials -- one in Chicago next spring, one in Las Vegas -- hover over the Wilmette businessman and onetime prolific political fund-raiser for the governor and Barack Obama.
Now, sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that Rezko has been seen at the federal courthouse as many as a dozen times since his June conviction. He's been held since then at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago.
Rezko hasn't had to be back in court since a jury convicted him of corruption charges involving state deals. And his scheduled Sept. 3 sentencing was recently pushed back to Oct. 28.
One source says Rezko was spotted twice inside the U.S. attorney's office since his conviction -- an assertion Rekzo lawyer Joseph Duffy calls 'bogus.' And Rezko was inside the courthouse as recently as Aug. 14, sources say.
If Rezko's cooperating, that would be a major development in 'Operation Board Games,' the government's ongoing probe into state boards that's widened into a broader corruption probe.
'The preposterous idea that the Governor of Alaska, by charter, is a 'Commander in Chief' - as though the other 49 Governors were not.'
Fine, that still means she has more executive experience then Obama. He never governed anything. Neither has Biden.
'How about her desire to teach creationism?'
It isn't true. It is a lie.
'She does not understand modern society's contribution to global warming,'
There are many scientists who state that it is the suncycles. To blindly accept that t is mans fault when it has been happening for thousands of years is stupid.
'She opposes listing polar bears as endangered, although the ice they live on is rapidly melting.'
Polar bears are being culled in Alaska and Canada.

And you're a Christian? What cave did you originate in, you damned little troglodyte?! Do all Christians lie, or just the GOP right-wingers? Palin got her run as Governor because the preceding GOP leadership was corrupt. Does that make her corrupt; since the Alaska voters keep electing corrupt politicians?
Her first big lie was about the 'bridge to nowhere', which she essentially supported to get Federal funds (OUR tax dollars) for Alaska. That's what governors do. Alaska got plenty of our money despite the bridge plan going into the toilet, and she still stands for plenty of earmarks for Alaska.
She has shown no sign of moving from political hack-hood to a national position, where EVERYONE matters. Why wouldn't she continue to favor Alaska? Her entire career has been about favoring Alaska.
Obama worked for long years OUTSIDE the system to improve people's lives and job opportunities. Longer than Palin served as political renegade on a town of fewer than 7,000. Whydoesn't Obama's hands-on executive experience count? Running a business or non-profit can be more complex than being a politician, who can attract lobbyist money.
The right-wing has ramped up fertilizer production, in the hopes that if they bury Palin deep enoigh in the pile, the smell gets covered over.
Why didn't McCain come out with this pregnancy news when he first learned of it? What else are they hiding>
And this, the right-wing shitheads support, because they can't do anything but kow-tow to the dogma their parents drilled into them before they were able to think for themselves. Like some third-world partition of America, brain-dead to the 20th Century; never mind the 21st.
They have their model of ignorance with Sarah, and her retarded social outlook - which you can see demonstrated in the very quote that begins this post.
