This campaign ad was one of the most brilliant moves yet! It was interesting and certainly had a record number of people tune in. All McCain and Palin's speeches are all about dissing Obama. What the hell do they stand for??? Do they even remember?

We could not be more screwed.Oct 30th, 2008 - 23:11:42

'''a kid’ll eat the middle of an Oreo first, and save the chocolate cookie outside for last. So he can oppress it, or dunk it in milk as a show of power. The tiny white devil…'''

****

I admit, this one left me nearly speechless. And given my studies of racialism and structural / critical race theory, that ain’t easy to do:

Hans Bader informs us that Harvard law professor Charles Ogletree, “'Obama’s top advisor on race issues,'' explains that since Obama is ‘biracial,’ his election won’t prove that racism has receded. White America won’t vote for blacks, Ogletree argues, and Obama’s election is possible only because he’s partly white.”

Hear that, you guilt ridden, milquetoast wannabe post racialists? Vote for Obama and you’re still not absolved of your filthy racism.

Because it turns out that all you’re doing is voting for Obama’s white part.

There is no escaping your bigotry. There can be no racial reconciliation. “Post-racialism” means perpetual racial grievance mongering, and an effort to completely invert the supposed institutionalized racism in this country to favor the perpetually (and quite cynically) oppressed.

Did I mention we are screwed:Oct 30th, 2008 - 23:13:03

Oh, then there’s this:

Bader also points out that the “'ABA Journal predicts that Ogletree, who has long advocated race-based reparations, will be the 'Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Civil Rights Division' during the Obama administration.”' Maybe race-based reparations will be another way to “spread the wealth”?

Obama, naturally, would only receive half a cut.

God help us all, everyone.

Very screwed...Oct 30th, 2008 - 23:15:03

Obama’s tax plan (such as it is):

Obama’s tax plan includes four main components: Higher marginal rates; higher estate taxes; higher corporate taxes; and higher taxes on investments. Let’s go through them, one-by-one.

[...]

The “Joe the Plumber” tax raises taxes on small businesses, crushing entrepreneurial job creation at the most basic level. Most small businesses are LLC’s or S-Corporations. Every net dollar they earn is taxed as “income” for the owner. Even if a small business owner decides to take a small salary each year and leave money in his or her business for future investment or payroll, all of that money is taxed as “personal income”. Moreover, many small businesses live from contract to contract. They might receive a large check at the end of a year and then set that money aside to make sure they can make payroll for upcoming lean months. Obama’s plan raises taxes on that money, perversely calling it “income”. In the real world, that money is often next month’s paycheck or next year’s job security for employees.

Barack Obama is also calling for higher estate taxes: More “tax the rich” class warfare, more real-world pain for working Americans. The current estate tax rate is scheduled to sunset over the next few years. Barack Obama will set it at 45 percent. For Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, that might not be that big a deal, but what about a family farm or small business? Many are worth enough to trigger the estate tax but only produce a modest income for the owners. Those farms or businesses are taxed at the “value” of the company, not for the revenue they produce. All too often, the only way the next generation can cover their estate tax bill is to sell off the farm or business. Most “Mom and Pop” small businesses don’t survive to the next generation. The estate tax destroys them.

[...] do your parents own their home? If they passed away, would you be able to write a check to cover the estate taxes on the value of that home, or would you have to put it on the market in order to pay the government? On December 31, 2010, the estate tax is scheduled to expire. Barack Obama wants to set it to 45 percent for the highest marginal rates. Part of the American Dream is that our children will live better than we do, that we’ll be able to create something and pass it on. Barack Obama’s tax plan makes that dream unattainable for many Americans.

Barack Obama will raise taxes on “big oil.” Who do you think actually pays for those taxes on “big oil”? We do, of course. Everyone pays, regardless of whether or not we can afford it. We pay higher prices at the gas pump and higher prices for our groceries. (It takes gas to run farm equipment and the trucks that get the groceries to the supermarket.) Barack Obama’s higher taxes on “big oil” will hurt lower-income Americans the most. While they might make for a nice sound bite, taxes on “big oil” are among the most regressive and punitive taxes. Remember those 40 percent who don’t owe federal income taxes? Ironically, Barack Obama’s plan means they take less money home at the end of the week.

Finally, a question: How’s your 401k these days? Your pension? Stocks have plummeted as investors have pulled their money out of the market. Yet just as the market is crashing, Barack Obama is planning to raise taxes on capital gains and dividends, further discouraging investment and cutting an even larger chunk of money out of the stock market. Were you planning on retiring anytime soon? Under an Obama administration, you might be working a few extra years.

We’ve seen this type of “tax the rich” mentality before. In 1989, President George H.W. Bush and the Democrat-controlled Congress passed a ten percent “luxury tax” on yachts priced at more than $100,000, thinking that the “rich” would easily be able to afford the surcharge. What happened? Just two years after the new tax went into effect, the New York Times reported that “In the last two years, about 100 builders of luxury boats — recreational craft costing more than $100,000 — cut their operations severely and laid off thousands of workers.”

Thousands of workers lost their jobs: Machinists, tradesmen, carpenters, laborers, designers. The “tax the rich” mentality – especially higher taxes on business – sends lower and middle income workers to the unemployment office. Higher estate taxes destroy the ability to pass small businesses, family farms or homes on to the next generation. Higher taxes on “big oil” lead to regressive cost increases at the gas pump and the grocery checkout lane. Higher taxes on investments leads to reduced values for retirement accounts, 401k’s and pensions.

That is what Barack Obama is proposing. That is his change for America. Look at it this way: Maybe you can use your government check – oops, I mean “refundable tax credit” – to pay for it all. You might even want to spend it on some new resume paper. You’re going to need it.

“Look who’s rooting for Obama”

Jerusalem Post:

What do Iran’s ayatollahs, Hamas terrorists, Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson and Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi have in common? They are all pulling for Barack Obama to win the US presidential election.

When Israel’s disparate foes manage to rally behind a single candidate, it should set off alarm bells for anyone who cares about the Jewish state.

If you think this is just Republican scaremongering, consider the following.

Last week, Ali Larijani, the hard-line speaker of the Iranian parliament, told a press conference in Bahrain that “we are leaning more in favor of Barack Obama because he is more flexible and rational” (Agence France Presse, October 22).

And then there is the October 19 endorsement that Obama received from Hamas spokesman Ahmed Yousef, who told WABC radio host John Batchelor and World Net Daily’s Aaron Klein that “we as Palestinians are thinking that we might have better luck with a new administration, maybe, if Obama wins the election… I do believe he will change the American foreign policy in the way they are handling the Middle East.”

There you have it. Two clear expressions of preference for Obama from two of the leading anti-Israel and anti-Western forces in the Middle East. Both the Iranian regime and the Hamas terrorist organization view Obama in a positive light and hope he will be elected.

Their enthusiasm for the senator from Illinois is shared by a number of other long-time enemies of the Jewish state on both sides of the Atlantic.

On June 11, Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi, in a speech broadcast on Al-Jazeera, spoke glowingly of the Democratic nominee. According to a translation provided by MEMRI, Gaddafi said, “His name is Obama. All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man. They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency.”

Back in the US, anti-Semitic firebrand Louis Farrakhan earlier this year labeled Obama “the hope of the entire world” and compared him to the founder of the Nation of Islam, the group Farrakhan heads (Associated Press, February 25).

Normally, one would expect that such a motley collection of rogues would be enough to send shivers down the spine of even the most spineless of voters. In the end, who wants to be cheering for the same outcome as Gaddafi and Farrakhan? Nonetheless, if two recent polls are to be believed, Obama seems poised to capture a significant majority of the Jewish vote.

The Obama Infomercial Lies to TaxpayersOct 31st, 2008 - 00:53:19

ATR: Myth vs. Fact: The Obama Infomercial Lies to Taxpayers About Obama Tax Hike

-- Americans for Tax Reform released the following in response to the Barack Obama 'infomercial' televised nationally on Wednesday evening:

How Do You Give a Tax Cut to Non-Income Taxpayers?-

Myth: 'As president, here's what I'll do. Cut taxes for every working family making less than $200,000 a year. Give businesses a tax credit for every new employee that they hire right here in the US over the next two years, and eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.'

Fact: According to IRS data, 33% of families don't even have an income tax liability, so it's impossible to cut their income taxes. Also, Obama's summary conveniently leaves out the fact that he would bring the small business tax rate to over 50 percent and would hike the capital gains and dividends tax at a time of market turmoil. His plan is a massive tax hike.
Obama to U.S. Companies: Don't Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out

Myth: (Ted Strickland speaking): 'Think of this. Barack Obama is going to be a Democrat in the presidency who actually cuts taxes. But he's gonna cut taxes for the people who really need a tax cut. He's gonna cut taxes for the struggling families. And he's gonna do that while holding accountable those companies that take advantage of tax breaks in order to send jobs offshore and to other countries.'

Fact: Obama will raise taxes by over $1 trillion by hiking the small business tax rates, the Social Security tax rate, and the nest egg tax rates on capital gains and dividends. Also, the reason companies move overseas is because our taxes are already too high. How does raising their taxes do anything but make this problem worse?

'Rocket Fuel' for Small Businesses?--

Myth: (Gov. Tim Kaine) 'Barack has looked at the small business side of the American economy and says 'Look, that's where most innovation and entrepreneurship is. Let's give them the rocket fuel to really accelerate rather than giving tax cuts to the ExxonMobils or the big oil companies that need not one ounce of help from the government to be very successful.''

Fact: Under Obama's tax hike, the tax rate on two-thirds of small business profits will exceed 50 percent for the first time since Jimmy Carter. If that's rocket fuel, the U.S. economy won't ever get off the launch pad. Also, raising taxes on energy companies won't do anything except make energy more expensive for consumers.

Barack Obama, Spending Cutter?--

Myth: 'I've offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost'

Fact: We can't say it any better than the AP: 'Obama's assertion that 'I've offered spending cuts above and beyond' the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by 'eliminating programs that don't work' masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are --- beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.'

Small Businesses and Savers Should Be Worried About Obama--

Myth: 'So I'm not worried about CEO's, I'm not worried about corporate lobbyists, I'm not worried about the drug companies or the oil companies or the insurance companies -- they'll be fine, they're going to look out for themselves. I'm worried about the couple that's trying to figure out how they're going to retire. I'm worried about the family that's trying to figure out how they can save for their child's college education. I'm worried about the single mom that doesn't have health insurance. I'm worried about the guy who has worked in a plant for 20 years and suddenly sees his job shipped overseas. That's who I'm worried about. That's who I'm going to be fighting for and thinking about every single day that I'm in the White House.'

Fact: If he's worried about the couple about to retire, Obama should be asking himself why he wants to tank their 401(k) nest egg by raising capital gains and dividends taxes. If he's worried about the parents saving for college or struggling to afford health insurance, he should ask himself if raising their small business employer's tax rate to over 50 percent is a good idea. If he's worried about the longtime employee's job getting shipped overseas, he should ask if the fact that America has the second-highest corporate income tax rate in the world has anything to do with that.

Americans for Tax Reform is a non-partisan coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose tax increases.

'My Friend', did you hear the reporter asking McCain if he wore 'briefs or boxers'? All McCain said back to her was 'Depends'.

To see what happens if you lower taxes for the richest you just have to look into the past.Reagan did just that and what happened ?
That money went to the places that would give maximum return on the investment. That is something different from job creation I guess, right?
For more than a decade that has been the stock market and the investment banks.See what happened ?
As for the manufacturing jobs ?The corporate tycoons made some calculations;a worker in China costs less than a dollar per hour, the minimum wage in the USA is roughly 7 dollars and a few tears .They didn't even bother to calculate the amount of taxes they would have to pay but unscrewed their machines ,sacked the workers and shipped the machinesto the Far East.
They left the workers without jobs or money but filled your heads with patriotism and BS about what a privilege it is to be an american. And of course you are all part of the same great nation...until they have to pay taxes!!!
Those taxes are necessary as the botom 50 percent of the USA only has 2,5 percent of it's wealth .
And the gap is widening....
